So it looks like the IH1 plug is very far away from where I was working, so im good there. Thanks for the diagram, there are like 50 plugs on the passenger side, nice to have a picture to show me where I should be looking.

You guys are killing me with this Freon talk. Freon is a registered trademark by the Dupont corporation ( now known as some other company name that slips my mind after being split off from Dupont) and is a brand name for R-22 and the like. 3rd Gen Tacos have R-1234yf refrigerant. It is also known as, ...something else that I can't remember.

Like Kleenex, or velcro. Those are brand names of facial tissue and hook and loop material.

"it is marketed under the name Opteon YF by Chemours and as Solstice YF by Honeywell"

I had to google and wiki it since it was bugging me.

Chemours is the Dupont Spin off company I believe also by the look of it.

Xerox is the example I always use.

Sorry to be pedantic, but everytime I carry my jug around that says something stupid on it like "Ameripride" or such, a customer feels the need to ask why i'm not using Freon. I got triggered lol.

The first thing I would check would be the freon levels.

Nope, just the mid range speakers in the dash. On the passenger side there is nothing even close to it, on the drivers side there is some stuff, but not much. Im thinking its just a coincidence that I was working on the truck and the AC stopped working. I think it might have more to do with not driving... ive done 238 miles in the last 50 days.

The dealer I went to is terrible to begin with, but without the issue being present they couldn't do anything.

I also told them that the right rear door striker is rusting... service manager said "those are stainless, they dont rust, looks like someone spilled something on it like water or something..." He then tried to scrape it off saying see it comes off... yes, rust comes off if you scrape it.
Really? what world does he live in where people are just spilling things on door strikers and causing localized rust on just the weld area of the striker. He said he would send a email to his rep after blaming me for spilling something on it. I tried to explain to him that welding causes anti corrosion properties to fail, but he was too dense to understand.

I took it to another dealer, he said that shouldn't rust, ordered a new one and will put it in tomorrow.

I initially had problems at my dealer about my leaky rear diff. They said there was none to be found and it appeared normal. They also told me the recall was only for Sports, not my Off Road. I mentioned to the girl I was aware I owned an OR that was under warranty, not a recall. So I crawled under the truck in the dealers lot and took some pictures with the dealership clearly visible. I then went back to my SA and showed them the pictures and said that the service I received was unacceptable and clearly false. I may or may not have said some other things, but I was firm and persistent, and polite while channeling my inner Karen and asked for the manager.

I got a phone call the next day and again was firm on my position. He had me bring the truck back in and I was assigned a different SA, Jim, who is awesome and doesn't give me any grief.

Also, I had rust in my door sills, they initially tried to blame my Prinsu lol.

So if you get an unacceptable response, please escalate it with management, sometimes the results can be surprising. If you find a good service advisor/writer, USE NO ONE ELSE!

    Good luck with the A/C.

Ive escalated with that dealer so many times, they have just straight lost my business now. Who in their right mind seeing rust on a car that a customer is asking about and instantly blames the customer for spilling something on it... its not even a place you can spill on. The correct way to deal with the issue would of be "Let me get some pictures of that and send it off to our rep". Blaming the customer for something thats impossible right off the bat is some shit service.

Didn't even try to pull codes?

Is it the manual or auto A/C?

I had a similar problem in my 2007 Taco a few years back. I did some research on this site and it seemed to point to a failing relay. I put a new one and and had no further problems.

Nope, they didnt even touch it... didnt even print the ticket, just told me they cant do anything unless its doing it.

On a related note, it started not working again about 30 minutes ago so I drove to the other toyota dealer and showed it to the advisor, he wrote me up for weds morning. Hoping it still doesnt work then.

Here is what I think is the problem. This is the ground for the AC clutch, I checked it with my multimeter and its all over the place when it comes to resistance, most of it is open. When this gets wet, the water gets into the bare wire at the terminal and creates just enough of a ground to allow the clutch to work.
