SR5, 4WD, Auto. Noticed today if I spin tires in the the snow or ice, the front end makes a grinding noise. This was in 2wd, with the traction control off. If I turned on traction control it still made the noise.

May be related to the traction control, prob hearing the ABS, but wanted to ask you guys what you thought. I was turning around in some pretty light snow and all of a sudden the grinding started.

    Thoughts?

That's what I figured....I don't like that. Sometimes I like to "play" in the snow.

Did you actually turn off traction control? If the system works like 2015, pressing the button once disables VSC. Holding the button down 3 sec disables traction control.

I agree with the previous posts. It's snowed here pretty much everyday since I got my truck... the TRAC/VSC is constantly kicking in when I'm in 2WD. I would recommend turning these off for the more "fun" times

It was off, as in I did not turn it on. I have not tried to hold it for 5 seconds yet to disable it.

Traction control is always on when you start the truck.

According to the manual, when you start the truck, Auto LSD is off. That is the only "traction control" button in my truck. So I assuming it was off. Sorry, I'm a newbie to Tacoma's.

When you want to push and hold the button for 5 seconds to turn off everything. You must be at a complete stop.

Obvious question, did it make noise in 4WD? Grinding out of the front end in 2WD is not normal....

"Grinding" is not coming from the driveline, but from the ABS module, which is under the hood (passenger side for SR5, driver side for TRD OR).

Yes, got to get and and play with it yesterday and it was the ABS module. Thanks all, no more worries here. ABS sounds much different to me than it used to. My last two Jeeps didn't even have it, so it's been awhile and sounds totally different.
