Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
    There's your answer.
Torque is where it's at, especially for a truck.

umm...no. id show you the video but it has both of our license plates in it and yeah...

on the freeway its not real battle, but off the line i was neck and neck with it. all the way up to around the 2nd gear shift, where he started to slowly pull but not by much....

by the end i was right by his rear bumper. but then again he was auto, im standard, and im like at least 800 lbs lighter than him. but im 4 and he has the 6.....

    Pretty much stock
Then he couldn't drive or the truck wasn't running right...the 4cyl 0-60 times is well over 9 seconds, frontier 0-60 is in the low 8's.

One of my buddies just traded his in, i wish he still had it i could have tested your theory tomorrow on the old airstrip where we do our defensive driving on.

And o yea...keep your street racing off the road...thats how you kill innocent people.

Why are you afraid of showing your license plate? People see it every day...

And seriously, race on a track or not at all.

Yup, the Frontier has a narrowed Titan Frame which is fully boxed. Its nice having the extra rigidity, but Frontiers are fat boy's and the mileage does suffer. I average 16 with 265/75 Duratrac's and a leveling kit, but thats what the Matrix is for, it gets the running around duties and gets great mileage.

It doesnt really interest me, but having the Titan frame does have its advantages as the Titans control arms bolt right up and makes for a cost effective long arm swap. Also the front diff bolts up too as the Frontiers factory front diff lacks some strength when running bigger tires.

I nearly bought a Frontier. In 2007 there was a guy in town selling one that was about a year old with really low miles. He was desperate to sell it for medical reasons and was way under blue book value. I couldn't get my car sold in time to buy it (somebody else snatched it up). I ended up trading my car in on my Tacoma in 2008. I do prefer the Tacoma, but I must say that the Frontier is a nice truck.

I traded my '05 Hemi for an '06 Frontier for my '08 Tacoma.

As memory serves me, I would swear that Nissan was the faster of the 3.

The Frontier felt like it would whoop ass.

But I still prefer my Tacoma.

ALl the road tests put the Tacoma ahead in the 0-60 runs....By a good margin. I raced a buddy getting on the freeway. 2 lane on ramp, that merged into 1. By 40 mph, I had 3 lengths on him. By 65, I was more than 5. He had an extended cab, so the weight shouldnt have been to much different. The Dyno runs I have seen on the Fronties show about 205 to 210 hp to the tires, where as the Tacomas seem to be putting down between 202 to 208. Not a big diff in hp.

Those pro-4x frontiers are sweet trucks no doubt. they are heavier due to the metal bed, fully boxed frame and 4 leaf pack out back. The tacomas deffinately accelerate faster.

Also the ground clearance is almost identical. with the tacoma having only fractions of an inch more clearance.

I got some more facts since this is curious to me and contradicted what I remember researching...

I just happen to have some past magazines I bought back in 05, which no real changes have been made since and here are more facts...

    Trailer Boats mag...
    0-60 Tow 3900lbs boat/NTow......towing 6080lbs boat

    nissan...20.6.....8.8....................28.2
    Toy.......18.8.....8.6....................24.8

nissan had the 265/75-16s and the toy had long bed with 245s...both 4x4s

    Automobilemag buyers guide...
    0-60/ 30-70

    nissan.....8.1.....9.0
    toy..........7.5.....8.1

nissan had 265/75-16 toy had long bed with 265/65-17...4x4 nismo vs prerunner

    CR
    0-60 / 45-65

    nissan.......7.9....5.1
    toy............7.6....5.5

nissan was LE with 265/65-17 and toy was an OR 265/70-16...quarter mile was about even at 16.3 and 16.2 respectively. both 4x4

I bought an 05 Tacoma after much research and test drives, as I was coming from an 89 pickup with 240k on the clock. While the boxed frame and metal bed were attractive, I ended up going with the Tacoma becasuse of past experiences and visual appeal. I am still not a fan of the interior as I do not like the layout, but execution is good; whereas, I love the layout of the Frontier, but their execution is poor.

maybe the frontier is slower because every time someone passes by it and they see how ugly it is they throw up in the bed and all that vomit weighs it down....

This is what all this dick size measuring isn't taking into account...I test drove and shopped Frontiers alongside the Tacos (let's face it, the Fronty is the only midsized truck that can be called Taco-competitive with a straight face). They're excellent trucks, nice responsive engines, solid feel, but Nissan just doesn't have the in-the-trenches durability Toyota does.

They used to. The hardbodies are deservedly legendary. But their new stuff just isn't in the same category. Say what you want about second gen Tacomas and TSBs, current gen Frontiers have common problems with radiators and diffs shitting the bed...like, regularly.

None of my research led me to believe the Frontier would hold up like the Tacoma does. The Tacoma is proven offroad and there's every reason to believe it will outlast every other truck offered in its class. That was the bottom line for me.

Since we're talking facts, I thought I'd dig up a few (since my test drives weren't done with an accelerometer installed).

I wasn't able to quickly find a reputable source that showed both trucks similarly-equipped and similaryl-tested performance (e.g., Road & Track or Car & Driver). I did find some data from reputable sources though.

Looking at Motor Trend, the 2005 Tacoma AC V6 Prerunner ran 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. Edmund's says a 2010 DC V6 ran 0-60 in 7.8 seconds. I would assume that the standard recommended gasoline was used in each case--premium for the 05 and regular for the 10, which along with weight of the DC probably accounts for the difference.

    Motorweek's 2005 Frontier DC V6 review says it ran 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. Edmund's says a 2009 Frontier Crew Cab 4x4 ran 0-60 in 8.3 seconds.

Looking at those numbers, and remembering the test drives I took on the same day, I do not see the Frontier V6 as being any stronger than the Tacoma V6.

got out of my Frontier to get into my Tacoma, I hated that truck, had awful gas mileage, sat as high as a Forester even though it was Nissans "desert runner" edition. On top of being dog slow (4.0l)... Toyota trucks ftw all day. Check consumer reports comparing Nissan and Toyota
