No offense but you need to learn the difference between a transmission and an engine. Paint the tranny drain plug bright red. This isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last. I’ve seen this happen 100 times and it pays to slow down and make sure you are pulling the right plug. An oil change is nothing but an accident waiting to happen.

Exactly. It makes draining your transmission fluid every 5k miles way easier.

Yes. I mean if you’re gonna mess up your transmission, it should at least be easier, cleaner, and not require tools.

I've worked on cars since I was a kid. Ive owned and worked on:
    2 x 1969 Pontiac Grand Prixs
    2 x Camaros (a 76 and 80)
    2 x 5.0 LX Mustangs (a 90 and 93) and an
    80 Firebird

When l did my first oil change on my Tacoma, l was overly cautious (paranoid maybe) and even looked up a photo of the oil pan just to make sure. I'm the kind of person that will measure 2 or 3 times before l cut or drill something.
l still made sure l was removing the drain plug on the pan attached to the engine block, and not the one on the pan attached to the tranny.
l felt like an idiot. But I try my best to avoid these kinds of issues. Not to say that I didn't screw up. I just try to minimize those headaches now that I'm older.

    If l can :fingerscrossed:

The one thing I don’t understand is not realizing it’s transmission fluid the second it starts flowing out. I understand cracking the wrong bolt though; they look similar

I did the same thing once with my wife's Subaru. I realized right away I pulled the wrong plug, but ended up wearing a couple pints of hot tranny fluid trying to get the plug back in. I think I could be heard swearing a block away.
