    It's this:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0792GN6BJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I actually have never seen the brake lights in my truck before, and it is 200 miles away waiting for me to retrieve it from this little debacle. So I can't say if they're LEDs. I would guess not, because it would be pretty old school to call them bulbs. :)

    From the ticket:

"right rear brake light bulb shorted out to parking light circuit, causing source voltage to backfeed through the brake light circuit causing engine control logic to activate smart stop technology due to accelerator input and false brake light input simultaneously. replaced brake light to cure."

So unintended deceleration is better than unintended acceleration I guess. In the eyes of someone.

I frequently press both brake & gas pedals simultaneously when heel toe downshifting and have never experienced a loss of power. I know this same subject came up years ago before I bought my truck. Consensus opinion at the time was that it was a non-issue.

Does this 'feature' exist on a manual?

And if so, does 'it' know when the clutch is depressed so it doesn't care that you press both?

Toyota does not want you heel toe downshifting like in Initial D anymore.

Another reason I'll be keeping my 94 f350. All these "safety features" on new cars are just something waiting to break.

Gawd, how many times I see this on my morning commute. Although I can't physically see their feet, their brake lights acting like a strobe at 60+mph tell me the full story.

My salesman told me that if I press the gas and brake at the same time that the car will stall

I tested it out (on dirt obviously...I don't think we have enough power to do it on the street lol) and it was totally fine. And that was with everything off

Yummy Taco your salesman isn't totally correct, the vehicle must be moving to activate the decell feature. If you are not moving and you hold the brake pedal firmly and apply the accelerator the rpm will reach the stall speed of the torque converter. If the vehicle is moving say 5-10 mph and you apply the brake pedal just enough to activate the brake light switch and you apply the accelerator, the engine rpm's will drop to idle. This was instituted due to the unintended acceleration people were claiming...

Had this pop up while working on heel-toe downshifting with this less than ideal pedal placement. Not deactivated for manual transmission trucks and yes you can heel toe downshift in a truck. Reducing clutch wear is a good thing regardless of vehicle type. It's not really heel-toe, more of a left side-right side of foot downshift.

Anyone know if this can be techstream deactivated?

If it's a manual transmission with 3 pedals, it can be done. I realize a lot of people don't do it or don't know how to do it. But that is how I have always driven. Handy to know. And I am NOT racing when I drive.

I have smaller feet than you & can't do side-to-side HT. Many good drivers use your technique as well. Ayrton Senna for one.

Classic HT is usually done with the ball of your foot on the brake, pivoting the foot to hit the bottom of the gas pedal with your heel. But our Tacomas have an extremely short pedal that makes the classic technique impossible for me.

I've had to retrain myself using Ricky Rudd's technique of heel the brake & blip the gas with the ball of the foot. Works okay, but not yet a conditioned response like the classic.

I was always taught that it doesn't matter what technique you use for heel toe downshift as long as you can do it reliably and smoothly. I usually roll the side of my foot to heel toe since the pedal placement is not ideal at all but sometimes I can blip the gas with my heel. The only thing I dislike is that the brakes are not very strong and l can't get enough pressure on the pedal during heel toe to slow down as quickly as I like, I always get a feeling like I'm not slowing down enough and going to plow through the turn.

Strangely enough, I've never gotten the pop up for gas and brake being applied at the same time and I use left foot braking quite often. Left foot braking is tricky with the brake pedal placement so close to the throttle.

This happened to my 2017 OR too around 25k miles. No aftermarket lighting at the time. Only happened when lights on the steering column were switched on and they told me the exact same thing. It happened as I was crossing lanes turning onto a busy street cause I switched my DRL’s on once I got to the intersection. I almost got T boned really badly.

That don't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about this truck.
