The new Bronco stuff has an accessory rail on the upper dash pad.

Has anyone created a bar that goes on or over the dash for the Gen 1. It would be nice to get some of the junk out of my square cup holder.

The profile looks like a STD-1913 picatinny rail. The center might be 1/4" (6mm) T-Slot. They make them for the Jeeps and they are round.

    I was thinking a 1"x.5 extruded aluminum or a 1"x1" extruded aluminum.

Just need a way to mount it. I'm not sure what is under the dash or how easy it is to get to. We could go A-Pillar to A-Pillar, but that might be a bit flexy. Maybe mount it on the side of the dash with a vertical plate that extends up to hold a bar?

    Oooh, I like this!
However, anything that obstructs my view is almost a no go for me. All those things would be small blind spots on a 1st gen.
    I still like it though.

Hanging an iPad from the ceiling might be a bit much. Also my old man glasses won't let me see close up on the top. :(

Might be able to attach to the side of the console or something?

I've bungeed a gopro to the back of my rearview before, worked great. Maybe something in the same location, but only 8" wide or so would work.

Or combine it with an overhead console...

Interesting concept but the one being offered in the new Bronco is the Magpul M-Lok mounting system as there are already numerous accessories that attach to the system. There are a few companies that make rail systems similar in design that are small sections that need to be mounted but like others have said, more things on the dash the less you can see over the hood. I personally like the companies that are offering Molle systems that mount to the lower portion of the dash and around the shifter surround.

M-Lock really? It's good stuff and useful system for carbine accessories, not sure about dash mount stuff though? It seems kinda involved for throwing as phone mount up there.

Looks good on the new Bronco but the angle of the windshield on the Ford seems very upright therefore it may look a bit more proportional than the more rakish (and obvious good looks) on the 1st gen Tacoma's. I get annoyed when I have a 20oz coffee mug in the cup holder so its visually in my way and when I'm done shifting I just hang on to it.
For 60K I would rather get a garage lift and some cool tools.....rest on beer ;)

This is the original cup holder. In high school, I had a 67 Mustang with the nice flat console, that I could set a Big Gulp ... but it wasn't secure. One day I thought that I would be cool and do some "rubber tricks" as my friend said. Well, I forgot about my Big Gulp that got promptly dump in the rear seat. Oops.
