What was the consensus with using a infant car seat in an access cab? Does it fit?

Totaled my AC Friday...getting a new Tacoma any day. Preference is AC vs. a DC and short bed. If you could pick your tacoma config again with a baby on the way what would you select?

I gotta say: Baby = Double Cab. I think you'll regret an AC with a baby and a car seat.

Double. I did access for a little while with infant in front seat, booster behind driver. Used it like this for a short time around town only.

Double cab is so much easier, and safer.

None, might do a off road Tire Rim combo, if anyones looking to sell some in SD...
Sorry I never got back to this thread. Went to get my car seat fitted at the hospital. According to them the infant car seat does not fit in the back. With the seat flipped forward the angle is incorrect and with the seat flipped up there's not enough support. They advised me to put infant seat in front, with child facing the bed, with the AIR BAG OFF. Very important the airbag is off. However this is against the law according to California. They said only do this in emergencies and get a different vehicle for transporting my newborn.

    So get a double cab.

After 6 hours on babyRus with my wife making the list for the baby shower I could fit a rear facing car seat and a front facin seat on my access cab...

I know is not behind one of the seats but both fitted ok. (Tight ) but well secured to the isofix anchors.

Would not trade in my lovely/well maintained truck for about 4 more years and loose almost 2 years of payments on it...

Hope it helps others... I could NOT find pics of an access cab with car seats.

Please explain yourself.. I’m open to hear good/bad comments... that’s why I posted here..

I didn’t bought anything.. and I know is not orthodox... but if is legal (I have to check) and the car seat is well anchored, why not... there is a lot of theories about car seats..

You are placing a child restraint seat on a center console with a sun visor below it, is that not explanatory enough? They make the anchors behind the lower seat for a reason.

That is 110% not legal. Theories about seats? Please enlighten me about these theories.

Well I guess you were 110% off.. just talked, explained, sent pics to a friend of mine that is a Florida highway patrol and he told me that as long as the car seat is well secured there’s no problem.. now you know if you want to buy an access cab and have kids...

You keep thinking that’s safe and legal there pal, and I’ll keep my kiddo in the appropriate secured points. But what the fuck do I know about car seat installs I’m not a highway patrol man I’m just a ol dumb fireman

There’s a few of them on here, but most guys are nice and helpful. Honestly, if you’re concerned about the safety of your child seat, I’d bring it over to your local PD and see what they have to say about your setup. After all, you do want to make sure your kid is properly seated and safe in case of an accident.

Running into the same predicament as we’re expecting, and I’m really not into the idea of getting a new truck. Seems like everyone is in a big rush to tell you it can’t be done, or that they gave up and got a new truck. Anybody have any brands of seats that they could get to work backwards behind the drivers seat? I’m down to see ideas like @Claudiomartinof ‘s, and prove or disprove that it can be done safely. I feel like there has to be some way to make it work safely and legally. Not a battle of who cares about their kid more but has anybody honestly tried ALL of them.
