Just curious how others who have an access cab and kids set them up in the rear for longer than around town rides.

    Pix appreciated.

How old are you talking? My gf and I have a almost 4 month old and she can fit in her car seat behind the passenger seat. It helps that the gf is 5'3 so leg room isn't really an issue, theres no way she would fit behind me (6'3).

FWIW I was always somewhat tall for my age and grew up riding in the back of extra cab Toyota Pickups/Tacomas that my father drove with mininal fuss that I can remember, it can be done relatively easily.

I can get pics of the car seat setup at some point if you're interested.

Get a shell camper, put down some carpet and add some bean bags.

This is the correct answer. I had a buddy in college who had an old Nissan Armada and he folded the seats flat and put a bunch of bean bags and pillows in there. The thing was a rolling party house.

Edit: and it had the BIG sunroof, so many a good time was had:rasta:

Access cab with kids. Hard pass on that one. My double cab is tight with one forward facing car seat and two boosters, I can only imagine the shitfest trying to put car seats in an access cab. You and your poor passenger. RIP any comfort you or your passenger would have had.

Also, on long trips, you just give them a coffee can with a plastic lid to pee in and you don’t have to stop all the time. Tell them to store it behind one of the bean bags so it doesn’t spill.

My 3 year old rides in the front seat in his car seat with the air bag turned off. Car seat in the back deff wasn’t working. But the truck was a gift so can’t get rid of it

The car seat we got for our newborn actually said in the instructions to do it this way, and not to use the fold out extension in the back

Yeah, Texas makes no allowance for it being a truck. Back seat or not at all. Pretty strict.

Got rid of my access cab before we even started trying for a kid.

Even if its legal, its suspect when the child seat is in the front.

Agreed, picking an access cab over safety and comfort of a baby should be an easy choice. I got rid of this beast as soon as we started trying for a kid. 30E0BD69-F21C-4AE9-903B-3B3F64C391B0.jpg

I don't see the issue at all. Just don't put the booger picker in the truck at all. Wife has a car ride the kid in that.

Back many years ago in the days of dinosaurs and shit I had a single cab Mazda truck and a small child. The little lady had a Camry Wagon. Taking the kid ride in the car, Not taking the kid drive the truck.
