I made one for my 2017 AC,

also removing the headrests does give the dogs more room the covers are a lot harder to pop out on the 17 but a couple micro screwdrivers and trim tools make it easy.

    Dimensions 20”x52” 3/4 Plywood
    Indoor/outdoor carpet from HD
    2x4 for Legs
    Staple gun
    Locktite Adhesive spray
    2”-2 1/2” wood screws

    Heres some pics Pups included

Thanks for such great info on building a platform in my Toyota Access cab 2017. I just did a cross country trip with both my dog and my cat from LA to Portland, ME and back. I added a loft for my cat and my Golden Doodle had lots of room under it on the platform. I have the Utility Package for the truck so I didn't have to worry about seats or headrests. The platform performed great. I did not bolt it down but it rests very solidly against the back of the seats. In the photos, my Turkish Angora cat, Ziggy, sits on the loft I made for him on the platform for my Golden Doodle, Charlie.

Nice! That look says "C'mon, get some tools out and let's lose these headrests, OK?"

For all those SR Utility package owners out there. Still need to paint and add latches but super happy with the results so far and so is Sam!

Very nice. Welcome to TW. I hope you saved your measurements. I'm pretty sure your going to get alot questions about your platform build.
Love the old Pentax 35mm, I had one that I traveled all over Europe with.

These are a solid answer for hauling doge. I made one basically just like the plywood model many years ago for my 2003 gen 1. It still works just like day one as there is almost nothing to break or wear out.

Thanks for the plans guys. I just made one for my new to me 2016. I added one of those blue camping pads underneath the carpet for extra comfort.

I made the same style bench but I glued a 3 inch piece of sleeping foam on top, then used a waterproof seat cover from a local pet store, works and looks great, plus the pooch has a comfy seat for trips

UPDATE: Added some nifty flush mounted boat style latches (courtesy of Amazon) and threw a coat of Rustoleum truck bed liner spray on it. When it gets a bit warmer I plan on pulling it out and doing some finishing work on it, but for now, it works/looks good enough. Also bought a cheap Walmart yoga mat and cut it to fit on top to keep things from rolling around and my dog's ass happy!

That came out Great. Nice job! My next truck will be with the 'rear seats delete' option if I can get it.

If anyone following this thread is in the Western NC area and wants my access cab storage/dog platform box they can have it. Free to anyone that wants to pick it up. I just traded in my truck for a DC and have no need for it anymore.
