Might get some recessed metal handles some day soon. I’m not great with carpet to begin with so all the bends made it difficult. Pretty happy with it overall

Not gonna get away that easy...

T-slot frame and fasteners..let’s see underneath!

How did you secure it to the truck?

    Sheathing type and dimensions?

    Any other info???

    Looks terrific!

Great job with the fit ‘n colour match. All we need now is proof of Dog.

Thanks, we don’t get out as much in the winter as we do in the summer, so all I have is an unfinished pic for now.

I made a more minimalist platform, that still allows access to the storage cubbies:

I used 7/16" birch plywood for the slab and uprights. Removed the center console, then cut the two "L" shaped pieces. The plywood is notched on the underside where the center console used to sit.

The top of the plywood is more or less flush with the top of the storage cubbies, and it makes the whole space seem more usable. You can also put stuff like dirty shoes under the platform on either end.

Being two pieces, it's easier to take out, or you can take one side out if you have a masochistic friend who is willing to ride back there with the dog.

How is this being supported near the front center console? Love the idea of a 2 piece!

It has a third support, like the two you see at the outside edge. Those are all just rectangles of the same plywood, screwed from the top.

I can get a picture of the pieces out of the truck and add some dimensions later today.

No need to take it out. I just wanted to make certain I wasn't missing something (which I was - that third support). I may take mine out and chop it down like yours... I like that you have access to the cubbies. Will probably do this after I no longer need the platform for the dog (thinking of a topper in the near future).

It's bolted into the two seat mounting holes on both ends, and anchored in the middle with a 90deg bracket off the extrusion to the center console plate. At the two seatbelt locations I counterbored the extrusion so the bolt heads sit sub-flush. I used 1in standoffs at these locations and if all fits well.

Hinges are constant tension spring hinges off Amazon (so they use springs to stay closed, quiet off-road too). I just lasercut wooden panels and glued carpet on top.

Easy to make, super lightweight. I'm all in less than $100.

Sub was added a few weeks ago, still plenty of room for the doggo. Only exposed wiring is what you see and the amp is mounted under the passenger side

I'm sure I know the answer, but I'll ask anyways... the rear seats aren't usable by people with the platform in, are they? I see you left them in and I'm wondering if you have a trick I don't know about.

Thanks for the inspiration. I ended up making one similar but a single piece as @Schlappesepple. I was going to do like you did but I found that the single piece comes out easy enough by tilting the back up and then the whole thing comes out, even with the legs all attached. I'm really happy with how it came out and I think it's great that it has access to the storage compartments without doing any special woodworking.

Here are the dimensions for the access cab with seats:

I put 2x3" support legs at the x locations. They were 6" long to level it out.

I'd like to get some automotive or speaker box carpet to put over it. Where does everyone get that from?

    Thanks again!
