I got some great ideas from this thread.

I removed the jump seats but still wanted the ability to haul by niece/nephews in their car seats/ booster seats. I made a cut out for the seat belts. I carpeted and added rubberized diamond plate mat to keep carpet clean from mud/water. Works well for my Lab.

With that set-up do you just put the car seat on top of the platform? Where do thier little legs go?

Great job. The rubber diamond plate is a nice touch. Were you able to find a small section of it, and if so where? I see Home Depot is selling a 7.5 x 14' piece for ~$100. Don't need quite that much.

Their feet just go straight out. I don't drive them much maybe a couple times a year and for short distances so it works.

For the rubber diamond plate try a local rubber place. Their prices are usually much better than Home Depot and they have scraps they sell too. Amazon also sells a 4'x 4' section for $30. 8ffe6fdcaefa0d063b93561382620d5c_a52f127d6d7187e15d4bce14ae7848b9d714c038.jpg

That's a good idea. I have the platform in mine, never really considered I could just put the seat right on top of it!

Got a puppy this weekend, now I get to make another platform since I removed my old one and used the wood for other stuff. Looking forward to implementing some of the cool ideas that have come up since I made mine a few years ago.

Cut the deck for my new dog platform last night, and I grabbed some "automotive" carpet from Wal-mart this morning. I plan on cutting the hinged aft doors for access to the jack and compartments again. This time I spent a little more time making a cardboard template, to get the aft wall contours to fit better, then cut it out of the ply. I will likely use something smaller than 2x4 for the legs/supports this time so that I retain more storage area underneath.

This would be great for Duck Hunting on cold trips!! Hate having to put cooper in a dog box wet cause even with the insulated cover it still needs to be open enough to circulate fresh air for him and the wind is cold coming in this would keep him in the cab and also so I don;t have frozen waiters when I get home. Any ideas about raised sides to keep water from dripping to the floor? and also any ideas for a compartment under the platform to store a shotgun?

You could maybe use a half round molding to make a taller 'fence' around the perimeter. It'd make covering it with carpet or sheet rubber a PIA, but for your intended use it might be better to just paint the top with bedliner. If you check out mine, the drawers could easily be modified to hold a shotgun or two. (...they could be shallower to clear the hump and to go all the way across. Could be made to open from either side, maybe with some foam liner or custom cut-outs). Even as it is, my 870 fits in the space in front of the drawers.

Do I have a weird model or something? My back seat area doesn't look anything like the folks in this thread. Maybe just early model difference?

Not sure what year they did it buut correct me someone who knows for sure but they went to a bench seat in some models and then to the (what I call) "jump seats" in the back

Pretty sure the 'new' style with the center console started in '09. The older ones like these are a much nicer setup IMO. I think Husky used to make a rubber tray that fit over the jump seats when they were folded down. Someplace on here there's a pic of it.

The rears changed on the 08 or 09. The newer ones have so much wasted space.

I started making my bed, I'm taking out the rear plastic, seats, and all that extra stuff. I almost took the cubbies out but I don't think it'll be worth it so I'll just leave them.

I made mine two piece, so a passenger can sit back there when needed and you dont have to pull the entire platform out. the sub box makes good mid support

Yup, seats changed in '09. Love the back seat for the pups in mine.

Found it... This post shows the Husky mat over folded down seats in an '07.

Probably not still available, but a nice simple solution.

That would be awesome if they had one that you could send measurements in and get custom made like this.

Threw the platform together Friday afternoon for our weekend trip and got the board wrapped and some eye-bolts in for cargo nets to divide the back up. I grabbed a piano hinge to make the back halves fold up for access to the storage areas also, will install that later. Our pup liked it for the 3 hour road trip we had, just put his bed in the back and he slept happily.

With only having legs in the front I can fit a flat 24pack of beer under it!

This thread gave me some ideas. I needed to keep one seat open in the access cab, for my youngest daughter. I wanted to make sure it was tough enough to stand up to my 1-year-old Aussie, so I covered the whole thing in canvas. I also wanted to keep from scratching the plastic portions of my truck, so I liberally applied foam cushioning to the whole thing.
