I gotten access cab twice because it's cheaper than the double cab. It worked fine for awhile. But once I could afford a double cab, I got one.

The Double Cab is useless to me since I never carry more than one passenger. I need to haul big stuff for my rental property, plus my kayak, my bike, my dogs, and I camp in the back once in a while. I actually wish they made a 7' long bed Access Cab (or regular cab). The DCLB is a nice combination of the two, but they're hard to come by and not available with a manual transmission, which is an eliminating factor for me. The DCSB is king right now in the truck world, and I represent the minority opinion for sure!

Yes! Bring back the 7 foot bed. I think the hilux has 7 footer options overseas. A reg cab 7 footer pre Tacoma pickup was offered. A reg cab 7-foot 4x4 V6 is a rare find though. Swap a 3.4L in instead of the POS 3.0L and you got yourself a unit.

I can`t speak for others but in my opinion the Double cab does not look as good as the AC and it looks more like a car than a truck, I already have a nice 4 door car, I didn't need another one.

    I love my AC

I think of my 2016 DCSB as a nice SUV with a truck bed. It rides nice and cab is roomy compared to some compact cars I had.

I wanted the long bed for hauling stuff. Never owned a 4 door vehicle as a daily driver, so the AC is fine for me. Plus, it fits in my garage. You know what they say, "whatever floats your boat".

    Looks like a car alright......20160226_135548.jpg

    Tons of space. :D

Anyone fit a roofrack to an access cab? I know the OEM doesn't fit but do they make an aftermarket that will fit?

Its simple...real men buy access cabs, they are real trucks. Guys who have double cabs buy them because their wives say they have to.

I live in Canada, and the only way to get a TRD Off-road is in Access Cab. We get very few choices compared to the states. TRD sports are only available in Double Cab Short Box. Need the 6ft bed for work. It's nice to be able to get a 6ft step ladder along with wire and tools under a locked cover.

If I'm honest I wouldn't mind the land boat Dbl Cab Long box but that's not an option here for the TRDs.

I just test drove a Off Road Access Cab and really liked it, but I did notice the transmission searching a bit which was something I read about. Putting it in the manual mode obviously eliminates this issue.

I'm kind of the odd one out. Single, childfree (and don't want kids down the road either) and have a DCLB. Never regretted having the space.

Doublecab longbed for the win, AC is too small cab wise in alot of situations you wouldnt forsee. Doublecab short bed is a joke, doublecab longbed best of both worlds. I've had every one AC, DCSB and now my DCLB. Hands down if you can find one, best Tacoma config.

Not enough space in the regular cab, and not enough space in the double cab to justify the jump up to 4 doors IMO. The backseats in the Double Cab are 100x better than those in the access cab (which aren't even really seats), but they're still not very spacious for a back seat. I would have gotten a regular cab but I needed more space for storage in the actual cab.

Can't buy a manual trans DC until you get to TRD trim level. If they made an SR 4x4 MT DC 2TRFE utility package I might have been tempted. There is plenty of space in the "back seat" of the AC (especially without the seats there) for groceries and I do not have more than one other person in my car more than once or twice a year. In fact, the back seats were out of my VW sportwagen since I got it and I never had an issue.

I must be a weirdo. My wife feels that I should have bought the DC, but I see it this way:

1)The AC has smaller, almost nonexistent, blind spots and is easier to manuver in tight spaces.

    2) No one asks me to DD, ever....

    3) I owned my precious vehicle 3 years and can only think of a couple occasions where anyone ever rode in the back.

We don't have kids, yet, so I'm sure that will change eventually.
