Access Cab - What's Your Back Seat Fridge Size?

I'm looking for first hand feedback from members with 3rd gen access cabs. What fridge/cooler sizes fit well in the back seat of a 3rd gen access cab Tacoma?

I have a 2021 access cab on order, and I would like to purchase a dometic fridge sooner rather than later to store some meals in the house that I'm fixing up.

I'm leaning toward 35 liter or 45 liter Dometic CXF3 series for frequent weekend camping use as well as occasional week long camping trips with one other person.

    Thank you!

I put in a Goosegear flat floor and I have a Snomaster 42. (Size: 14.3307 x 26.7714 x 20.2756″) Fits great! I also installed an Off-Grid Engineering dual battery system.

Second gen acccess cab but I have a dometic cfx3 55 in mine. So if it'll fit in my cab, it'll fit well in yours too since your trucks are a little larger. I like the way the lid opens on it vs the smaller ones. The passenger seat is a little bit forward but I'm 6' tall and can still fit comfortably in the passenger seat.

Where do you get that track you use to tie down your fridges?

It’s called L track. Can be bought a bunch of places online.

Thank you for your posts! Looking like I should be safe with a Dometic 45.

I have the dometic 45 and it barely fits... You cannot slide the passenger seat close to all the way back in stock form. I ended up using 3/4 spacers on the rear seat mount. I also pulled the back panel and replaced it with a molle flat panel sold by someone on a group buy here on TW. It gained me just barely enough to let the seat sit almost all the way back. At least far enough for comfort for the sidekick. It is TREMENDOUS to have the fridge there. If I had it to do over, I would likely have gotten the 35. Maybe... I can send some pics later if it is important to you....

This is excellent feedback. I'd love to see what your setup looks like. When you say it's tremendous to have a fridge there, what do you mean?

I am literally about to leave on a multiday trip with the truck and the FRIDGE... I will be glad to show you some pics, but it might be a few days. I am going way off grid. If the first night has any service, I will try some pics and see if I can post them.

I actually wrote a very long description of the steps and efforts I went thru to make this work. It was my longest post ever. Then somehow, I deleted half of it. DARN IT MAN. That torqued me off. Have to bail, but it sounds like you want to do just what I did, and for me it finally worked out perfectly (tremendous).

If you are really interested, I will try to recreate the write up I just obliterated. I can tell you all the things I tried to make work and didn't... I really wanted it to work well in this spot and it can/does, it just takes some effort.

Damn, sorry for your loss! I appreciate the information you've provided and I look forward to a potential adventure picture of your setup. Have fun off the grid, I'm jealous!

Is there anyone with a Dometic 35L and an access cab who can weigh in?

Buy an Alpicool off of Amazon and put the extra money towards other stuff.. Thank me later!

As for my cooler,, it is the Alpicool C30 (32qt).. The C40 (42qt) has the same size foot print, just 3" taller.. My cooler fits with the passenger seat all the way back and a good comfortable recline position for the passenger..

    LOVE this cooler!

((You can even fit a C50 (52qt) easily,, Passenger would just have to scoot the seat up an inch or two to be able to find a good recline position))

Very nice, thank you for your picture! It looks like the Apricot C30 is 13.8 inches wide vs the Dometic 35 at 15.7. That's almost 2 inches narrower. In your experience, do you think that 2 inches will make a large difference?

The way I have built my truck, and the purpose for the build, every inch of space matters.. I use my passenger floorboard for totes full of clothes when I cross the country after turkeys.. I couldn't imagine having less room up front..

One thing I would keep in mind if I were you, is the size of the passengers you will have.. If they are small, a wider fridge will be fine..

But what I love about the alpicool is, you can go all the way up to a C50 and it still has the same footprint (so if you build the same platform as me, you can upgrade later and still use it).. And you can get a C50 (52qt) off of Amazon for $319.99.. Mind freaking blown!

Everything about alpicool is great,, even the app!

For me it's so I can reach into the fridge and grab stuff while driving.

Do you think that this 55L would work well behind the driver's seat?

    It's complicated.
I bought the Snomaster LP61 a year ago, but will be changing to the 42 in the near future. The LP61 is fantastic, but it's a bit too large now that I'm not doing multi-week camping trips.

Thanks for the photos; helps me to see how the 42 will fit.

Iceco jp50 in the back of a access cab. Note that I pulled the seats and back panel. Still waiting on the L track and carpet for the back wall before I can finish it. Lid does not open all the way but I knew that before I purchased it, I can still slide a 1/2 gallon jug into the dairy compartment at a angle.

Damn you to hell, Randy. Always giving me ideas on stuff that I'd like to do but don't have the time or funds to do yet.
