I've gone back and forth on what I want to do so much that I am really tired of it. My Dakars are on the truck, some of you may have read that debacle... (I'm starting to feel like Krazie Sj )

Now a new crisis (of first world proportions) - I'm ready to do the front end. I have to do the front end. The rear sits so high, I can hardly see at night and I'm going on a road trip to the Olympic peninsula at the end of the month.

Oh, and I crashed my mountain bike and sprained both wrists. I can't do the work, but it has to get done. I just made an appointment with my mechanic.

I'm putting in "new" LCAs with good bushings and new bolts/ cams. I'm doing LR UCAs. I said "fuck it" and got new 5100s and top hats to go with my new 885 coils (will be selling the take offs). I also bought new 1/4" spacers.

There are so many people running 885s with the "driver side lean" spacer and I don't hear of CV failures from it - I'm thinking about putting both in. Taco lean isn't an issue - I've replaced my body mount bushings.

The question for those of you with Access Cabs and 885s... How much lift did you get? More specifically, what are your center of hub to fender measurements?

Here's mine. I'm on 33s too. 5100s @ 1.75" IFS and mid skids, bolt on sliders (all Pelfrey)

@fatfurious2 is 13.5 now or before the bumper. I'm about that high on the low side (1/2" body lift), driver side is higher than that now.

13.5" after the bumper. I think the bumper is about 110lbs. I also have a front skid plate at 50lbs, and LCA skids at 50 total.

I'm intently watching this thread as I plan to do the same thing your doing to my Access cab when I wear out the stock shocks. What hats did you get?

My plan is 885s, driver side spacer, 5100s, and add-a-leaf in the rear. I think I can do the whole thing for about $800 bucks in parts, plus labor and an alignment. I like the Icons, but it's 1500 freaking bucks to start playing that pool.

I want to end up with 2" lift in the front and rear, and everything else stock, including the rims. Above all else, I want no driveline vibes and I want a smooth ride on the highway. I have no vibes right now and a decent highway ride. Yea I 'offroad' sometimes on prairie trails and rough mountain roads, but mostly I'm on the blacktop, and that's most important to me.

Same here only I'm thinking I would get closer to 2" with 884's, according to the majority of pics I've seen on other threads.

I've got 884's on OME's on mine and it raised it about 2". Pretty much a levelng kit. Have yet to do the AAL but have it, shocks and carrier bearing drop in the garage.

Put a bumper on and going to bump up to 885's, as the 884's are a bit too soft for the bumper. While I'm swapping the springs I'm going to install the longer strut mount studs and 10mm plates to get closer to 2 1/2" lift. Then do the AAL to get it leveled or a bit of rake back.

    I'm expecting a full 3" with 885 and spacers.

I ordered the top plates, spacers, coils, struts and UCAs from headstrong off-road. Got my Dakars there too. I have Wheelers Off-road super bumps to put in up front also.

But the 5100s are adjustable right? So..your expeciting on getting a full 3" with them set all the way up?

I probably would have gotten closer to 3" had I put the spacers in. Ordered the coilovers prebuilt and they just sent the plates and longer studs separate so didn't install.

Hoping to get closer to 3" now with 885's and spacers but that extra 130 #'s up front isn't going to help much.

No preload - 5100s on bottom setting. 885 is a longer and heavier spring than stock.

    Wow, I didn't realize that 885's were only 5mm longer. Not even a 1/4".

I don't think I want 886's, but 885's really don't seem worth it from 884's seeing that. Should have went 885's from the get go.

I'm sure you know already that the front suspension doubles the difference in height. 5mm extra yields 10mm lift - no need to get too picky here, just generalizing and assuming everything else is equal.

There was a great thread where a member tested the travel of the 5100 strut - finding that we do not use nearly 1 inch of available up travel due to the Tacoma's design. He found that a 1/4" spacer makes 1/2" of that unused travel available, leaving nearly 1/2" as a buffer for really hard hits. I seriously considered going 887, but that thread was my reason for going 885 and spacers.

Okay, it's a done deal. 885s and new 5100s with 1/4" spacers, LR UCAs, and new LCAs with new hardware are in. The 885s with spacers sit exactly as high as my 5100s set at 1.75" with the same size spacer. Exactly. The good news is that the truck sits level up front at 23" center of hub to fender (remember that I have a small body lift - about 1/2"ish)

I have a solid 2" rake, which I can live with for now. I'll take an overload out of my Dakars at some point and replace my air bags with Timbrens, but not soon.

The truck looks good. The LCAs no longer make scary noises when I flex, and I should have a greater range of articulation with the LR UCAs. Also, I have 2.5 caster and the truck doesn't have that "sporty" steering anymore.
