Yes, I go out to Big Bend a few times a year, the ranger at the Sauceda Ranger Station told me that visits have gone up 700% since COVID hit.

You are right, no usable space in the 5ft box. That extra foot just makes all the difference.

    You guys make me laugh.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
That is a really beautiful truck, and a great color. But man guys sure have some clean trucks on this site. Mine is 2016 TRD OR, access cab. It has not been that clean since the first day I bought it. I give mine another 2 - 3 years tops before it is beat to crap. Installed my second skid plate a couple months ago. Decided to put on the TRD aluminum plate as it is thicker and more rigid than the stock one on the 2016 TRD OR. In just 2 months use the new plate is almost ready to be replaced as well. I have several foot long grooves that are almost fully through that 1/4 inch plate. It rigid, but that aluminum must be too soft. With those deep grooves so close to each other, it will have lost most of its structural strength now. Need to check out what the rock climbing guys are using for skid plates.

I should wash my truck, I mean really, with soap and a brush. I just pressure hose mine down after each bush trip, which is about once every week. Retired, and get claustrophobic if I am stuck in the city for more than a week. Plus I don't like to hang out anywhere the club guys go, so I am very far offroad. There is a price though, and not just on the truck. My hemorrhoids are getting beat up bad on wretched washboard roads, not to mention my spine and neck. Yeah I know, private details, but they nothing wrong with making folks squirm a bit hey? :)

I forgot what a clean truck looks like. I might just do that, but then it will probably snow here in the next week so what's the point.

Thanks man! If your going thru the TRD skid that comes on the PRO you need to move up to a steel one. I don't get to go out on the trails as much as I'd like so I try to keep it clean in between trips

Aside from the fact that I wanted a 2.7 ... Which only comes on a SR or SR5 .... I purposely got an AC so I could say 'Sorry .. Yer kid/dog/mother-in-law can't ride in the back of my brand-new truck and barf/blow snot/spill Coke/dump french fries all over the place and constantly kick the back of the driver's seat .. Because there's no room back there. Sorry!!' (Not)

Access Cab for me. Only way I would buy a double cab is if it had a "Rear Seat Delete" option.

Well most of that you could of closed the tail gate if you had the longer bed. Aside from that though, I did mention "if you had a box" in there about the most you can haul is a big cooler.

I am really not pro-oem accessories, Toyota is just too much of a rip off. Performance enhancing gear yes, but not accessories.

To me the access cab is a real truck... it feels like a truck... the DC feels like a sedan... like the mini van of trucks
