Took me 3 months to find my 6MT Access Cab. Friends and other salesman said I'd never find it - well guess who was wrong lol

Lucky. At one point I was minutes away from trading in my close to stock access can for a four door manual. Ending up keeping the access cab but it’s an auto. No such thing as an off-road access cab in a manual (at least in the US).

    Here’s my pos.

Access cab is great. Dog loves it. 6ft bed for all the gear with all the benefits of the shorter wheel base than DCLB. I never have anyone other than my lady and dog, so I understand the argument by those with larger families.

When I was at the dealership telling them the truck I wanted, one of the main things was access cab.

Still has 4 doors without the 4 door look.

Before I found the real need (well, enough of a need) for a Tacoma I was looking for chatter/opinions on double/access long/short. Maybe it was in here even that the posts I read (could have been here).

My conclusions fro reading: Access cab allows long bed for hauling material. Double cab with short bed for yee-haw in the desert and people in the cab, maybe access-cab as well as even long bed makes it short enough and fewer people with you. Double cab long bed may "turtle" too easily because of extra length.

I found few posts that disparaged any of those opinions but most just said "get what works for you".

I agree I think the access cabs are more balanced looking, but I could totally see someone with a family and kids having the four doors.

I have that same truck and love it. I love the long bed. Most stuff I carry would never fit the short bed.

The access cab feels like my locker or personal cubby for my stuff that I don't want to throw in the bed. When I had my DC, I missed having that space and the backseat didn't feel the same. I'm so used to having that space from all my previous Toyotas and Fords with Xtra-cabs, even my 4runner never had the backseat in it; it was a speaker and box setup for my stuff.

I'm cool keeping my truck for me and letting everyone else drive when we have to go out as group so it being a true 2 seater is good with me.

That, and it's really helpful for hauling 6'+ lumber and finished projects around.

100% I've never been in a situation where I have to carry a third person.
