My need for a 6' bed far outweighed the need for 4 doors, so I bought the Access Cab.

You’re not wrong, the proportions are just better and more ascetically pleasing.

My first 2 Tacomas were regular cabs (single lifestyle, then newly married), my 2nd gen was an access cab (kids to haul) with 6' bed, and my new 3rd gen is a double-cab with 5' bed. Times and needs change. Kids are grown and gone and I now have elderly parents to accommodate....

I had a 2006 TRD access cab for 17 years. at times the suicide doors were inconvenient. My kids and grandkids were younger. They had no issues climbing in the jump seat. So I now bought a 2023 SR5 double cab. Kinda sorta regretting that. When my grown grandkids do ride along now. I have to jam myself up against steering wheel so the have leg room. Other than it’s just me and the misses in
the truck. Mostly just me. Hunting /Fishing.
I will say I always got of driving the car pool to places cause no one wanted to sit in the jump seat.
As far as the bed. I could use that 6 inches back. But it is what it is.

I do like my 23 though

DCLB was mandatory when searching for a 3rd Gen. I use my rig for duck hunting, which involves driving three guys and a retriever 1,000 miles per weekend during the fall/winter. Agree AC looks marginally better but these trucks are all ugly anyways so I went with the most functional version.

My kids are 50 years old, all our parents are dead, we don't have a dog and I don't hunt.
My wife's RAV4 can handle all that, plus grand kids and groceries.

Nowadays, we camp in hotels instead of out on the ground in the rain.
We no longer trailer, for the same reason.

The Tacoma is for hauling stuff that won't fit in the RAV4.
That is why I wanted the 6' bed, but do admit I prefer the look of the access cab over the 4-door.

Got an access cab to carry my sled with the 6' bed, but also just prefer the looks of the AC. Here's a photo of mine of my trip north in Yukon, Canada!

I’m a wildlife biologist and I’m currently working at Fort Irwin outside of Barstow, CA. Out of the 9 biologists I’m working with, 7 have tacomas, 6 of which are access cabs. Super functional for our jobs, with a bed that most of us sleep in while working out here in the desert studying desert tortoises. I love my truck!

I've had about ten pickup trucks over the last 45 years, and I've never needed one w a back seat. I have ALWAYS wanted and needed some space behind the front seat/seats. This 2023 AC w 4WD, Toyota Tacoma SR5 2023 3.jpg a V6 and the SX blackout package is perfect for me, and I had a hard time finding one. I love that you can open the little suicide doors. I had to get a since it was the last of the Access Cabs, the last V6 for the Tacoma, and most importantly of all, 2023 is the year that the Texas Rangers finally won the damn World Series.

The windows in the suicide doors look off proportion to me. It's a look that never grew on me. Bring back the standard cab!

I had 2 paid off vehicles, good ones at that mind you in the driveway when the wife
got a wild hair and decided we needed a new Tacoma A/C so she ( we ) could haul lumber
for some projects around the house.

I was dead set against it I didn't give a rats-azz about owning a Tacoma. But... finally found one
when they were scarce in 2021 took it for a test drive and ended up coming home with the key.

Freaking out I told the wife I have to double-chop back to the dealer with that key she threw the
checkbook at me and said don't come home without it....

Fast forward 24,000 miles and all paid off and my thoughts are I'll give it up when you can pry the keys
    out of my cold-dead-hands.

This my go-to pic... had about 1000 miles on it - still looks just as good or better with the Wildpeaks on it.

My 2nd gen was a trail limo. Life changed and when I was ready to buy my 3rd gen, decided AC was the way to go, no need for a full back seat but the 6' bed was a must.

...and many have spoken of sleeping in back being a benefit:
