has anyone installed an Access Original Roll-up tonneau on a 3rd gen?

Can you comment on how it sits in place with the uneven front rail cap? Or share any tips on how you sealed it up?

The front bar which is attached to the cover takes care of the uneven space. There are special installation instructions for side rails of Gen 3 Tacoma's. https://www.accesscover.com/instructions/

I have had three Access Roll-up covers on previous vehicles (Ram Hemi's). Access make a great cover and their Customer Service is excellent. The fit of the cover that I have on my Tacoma Sport is darn near perfect. I had it installed by a "pro" installer, but I watched, I know my limits.

Thanks. I've had a couple before too. They're awesome. Just wondered how the fit is on 3rd gens.

If it's not a hassle, could you post some photos of yours where it overlaps the tailgate? And also of the brackets?

If it's a pain to post, no worries.

Good pics...better than I could do. Besides that my Sport is covered with mud right now. JaTe wins the prize for clean truck.

Thanks. So is the Torx bit not required for 3rd gen install?

Nope. They supply an additional gasket for the front bed rail.

I’m super happy with the cover. Water was coming in from the front bed corners. Mostly the bed design, not the cover design. I used a duct sealing putty for the front bed corners and that has helped. A little bit of water around the tailgate, but that’s to be expected.

The way the tail gate cap sticks out a few inches behind the end of the cover, it looks like water would leak in there, depending on which way water would run off the tail gate cap.

If you want something that is less likely to let water in, a trifold or solid cover would be a better option. I wanted a roll up to allow access to the entire bed on demand without having to remove a cover.

Same for me. I need (want) full bed access on demand. A little water isn't a deal breaker.
