Okay, so I have a 2012 Tacoma. Today, I went to add a fuse tap in the fuse box to add some accessories. I already have one fuse tap there, so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing. I pulled the ign fuse (it's a 15a fuse) and placed the fuse tap in there. Everything worked fine, except my 12v "cigarette lighter" plugs. So I checked the fuse for that, it looked fine. Checked the 7.5a accessory fuse, once again, looked fine. Replaced both of them, nothing. SO, I plugged my fuse tap for my radar detector in the 15a cig plug fuse just to see, and without the key being in the ignition, my detector turned on. So that fuse for the cig plugs is always getting power, but the cig plugs aren't. Weird, I know. Maybe the 7.5a fuse turns on a relay and the 15a fuse protects whatever you plug in? The ONLY thing I can think of, is there's supposed to be a relay behind the fuse panel for the cig plugs and maybe that went bad.

ANY help is appreciated, this is pissing me off.

maybe, i have a single fuse tap off of my 12V plugs for an overhead switch panel, but im confused as to how yours is set up. also, if you haven't already, check the engine fuse box, you may have blown something there.

And a shameless plug for getting an auxiliary fuse block from skygear, you wouldn't have this problem with it. :D

I've checked the engine bay fuse box. Nothing.

And I've taken off both fuse taps and reverted everything back to stock, and still nothing works. And btw, the way I have it set up now the fuse tap is in the 7.5a accessory fuse spot, and the tapped part works but the cig plugs: still nothing.

hmm, you say you replaced the fuses, do you mean you swapped them out for new ones or just put the old ones back in?

Here is a pic of mine for comparison, looks like your fuse taps are backwards.

Meh, I like them to go down because that's where I have all the extra wire coiled up and zip tied. I changed the fuses out, but when I noticed nothing was still working I put the old ones back in because they aren't the problem.

With your fuse tap plugged in where it is, does whatever you have on the tap always get power even when the ign is off?

Fuck. Mine doesn't. When I put my fuse tap that has my radar detector in the slot that yours is in, even without the key in the ignition my radar detector came on.

the newer trucks must be wired different. have you taken a multimeter to the socket to make sure the socket still works? you may have had a connection come loose on the back side.

I don't have a multimeter, but I took the cig plugs out (they just pop out) and everything behind them is still good. It worked this morning, just after I plugged that fuse tap in is when it all went to shit.

Trust me, I've tried every combination of switching the fuses around, the taps around, etc. Nothing works. And it's JUST the cig plugs, nothing else. It's gotta be that relay.

You put the fuses in the tap the right way right? the original fuse goes over the hole it was in and new fuse for accessory to the side
