Another vote for FabFour. Their rear bumpers are pretty nice and have a variant that retains the parking sensors. As mentioned there is only one that retains the BSM and even then the BSM is iffy/may need recalibration after removing and reinstalling. My rear bumper was damaged and I needed a replacement quick, FF was the only one in stock ready to ship (arrived in a couple days). If you’re looking for high clearance or moving the hitch to behind the tag, there are a lot of great options from fabricators on TW but unfortunately I needed the bumper ASAP. Overall I’m quite pleased with it, it’s solid and bolted right up. Gained two recovery points at the bottom of the bumper and it comes powder coated- stack on one of the eBay coupons and you have a decent deal. Trailer harness extension/ adapter for ~$20 is needed for a quick install without needing to loosen the original harness to gain slack.

The issue with replacing your rear bumper with a steal one is you lose the blindspot monitor. The Backup sensors will still work if the bumper has the slots to put them in.

Checking out the fab 4 bumper that retains BSM but also want to see what else is available...
Fab 4 looks pretty good but I wouldn't mind a high clearance.!!

Fab 4 won’t retain BSM, just the backup. They’re two different sets of sensors, the BSM are two rectangle looking sensors that only work behind a plastic window or bumper, hence the problem with steel bumper compatibility.

They’re definitely not high clearance I’m rarely off road and use the factory hitch. It does have a huge step in the middle to get into the bed, which is nice.

Sorry my mistake I thought you said it had the BSM..
I really want to keep it but the warn bumper on the first post is ugly on the rear bumper thread...
    No other options with BSM...
Someone please make one and soon ... lol

Looks like C4 makes one with BSM compatability...
    Checking that out now.

So the C4 looks pretty good but I read they use a sticky back led strip on the bottom of the tailgate to light the license plate..??
Not sure about how that looks or works..
Anybody with one that can tell me their experience..?!

The problem with C4 bumper with BSM, the spot where the monitor mounts is a weak point on
the corner, liability to the manufacturer for the rear bumpers, that is why no one wants
to make them if they start monkeying with the Toyota Safety Sense stuff (alteration of safety)
    that is not Fed. approved.
I looked into this, as I want a steel bumper. I do not wish to mess with the BSM and re-calibration
for the BSM. Not only that, but in the future for re-sale. I guess you could save your original
and re-install in the future for stock.

Just talked to them at C4 and they are redesigning that bumper and trying to decide weather or not to keep the BSM.
Hoping they do as it sounds like they will improve the license plate angle and possibly make the BSM sensor mounts adjustable so that you can "aim them" to make them work easier.

Not having my truck in front of me to check but it seems like you could design an adjustable BSM mount since it sits behind the bumper and not through it.
In theory that would allow you to correct and solve alignment issues. Also I looked at what you said about it being weak in the BSM locale but since I just got rear ended it can't be any weaker then stock ..!!

Wish Toyota would place the BSM into the rear tail lights like the new Jeep Wrangler, that way we could change out the rear bumpers if equipped with BSM.
Most folks that change to a steel bumper just tape up the connection at the monitor and go without it and claim their light on the mirrors do not mess anything up.

    Interesting...,
Might have to go that route but I'm going to try hard and retain the BSM. I've found it necessary in my truck as it has saved me a few times...

The stock 3 piece bumper is designed as a crumple zone to absorb the rear crash.
The aftermarket steel does not meet (certification?) government crash test regulations?
With the steel bumper vs/the plastic stock 3 part section crumple zone bumper, if equipped with BSM from the factory vs/non BSM option.
In other words, you are altering something that was designed to meet automotive safety standards.
Don't know how the aftermarket steel bumper manufacturers can get away with one bumper that does not have the BSM option,
vs one that has the BSM option, or the legal ramifications if a vehicle is crashed up and file a claim with your insurance company.
I guess it is o.k. to install a steel bumper (without) the factory Tech Package (BSM)
Maybe it is Enter At Your Own Risk (Don't Try This At Home). Here, Hold My Beer, Check This Out !!!!!
Do the research before buying a steel bumper and see if they state
    For Off Road Use Only.

I get what u r saying but so many aftermarket parts fall into that category. That 3 piece with crumple zone is ok I guess but as soon as it crushes in about 3" or so it hits the frame anyway...I definitely felt the full impact for sure. So I guess what I'm saying is I'll take a full steel bumper that can take more abuse then what the factory can take as it doesn't take much to damage it..
That and my bumper with the premium and tech package comes painted to match so is expensive to replace...
Hoping C4 can finish the upgrade changes to their bumper and retain BSM as I'm sure I can figure a way to "adjust" the sensors to work with the bumper giving me the best of both worlds,
    Strength and safety.

I wonder how many owners advise their insurance company when they modify the vehicle’s safety systems. Adding spacers to the seat mounts, changing crumple zone components, wire modifications, etc... obviously not a tightly regulated industry, however that does not absolve personal liability. Perhaps obtaining an umbrella policy, and keeping the insurance company informed of said modifications would be wise? Has anyone actually communicated with their insurance company to determine personal liability regarding vehicle modifications? (would be interesting knowledge if an agent is online and could help advise TW members).

    There's a rabbit hole...
There would be almost no mods
    Without a major premium spike.
    I'm guessing...!!
