Nailed it...The engineers i work with are 9 times out of 10 the source of a problem or a F-up. The 10th time is because the union guy didnt catch the engineers mistake.

How do you confuse an engineer?

Give if the thing he just designed and ask him to use it.

And I work with non-engineers every day and if I had a dollar every time I've heard...'I'm not an engineer but...'

On topic...the body mount extend so far out (way more than it needs to), except that it limits wheel intrusion on the footwell of the cab in the event of an offset frontal impact. Does the CMC effect its intended purpose? Sure it does. How much? I've got no idea and most folks don't either. It is a personal choice to do a CMC and you live with the consequences, good or bad. When I lifted my FJCruiser, I elected to replace my UCA to get my 33s adjusted forward a bit to avoid a CMC. My choice and I was happy with my decision.

That makes no sense. Its probably only there because engineers are stupid. Chop it off!

Is that length so the tire doesn’t intrude on the cab on an overlap crash. Your legs are basically right behind there.

Look how you have weakened that part. You and your loved ones might as well get your legs amputated ahead of time. It’s gonna fold like a wet noodle.

Here’s another of my buddies who regrets his CMC. He hit a fire hydrant while reaching for his ECT button.

God I have been dying for it to get to Friday.

I am the only one here certified and know what I am talking about. I am I-Car and Chief certified on frames and steel. There is several strengths of steel from mild, to high, to ultra high strength. Some can be heated, others not. Some can be rolled and stamped, some not. Some have limited repair options.

Also, Toyota does not just put shit on the truck for no reason. If they could have saved in cost of materials or lowered weight for mpg they would have made the mount smaller.

Also, I glued a cup holder to my dash. The dealer refused my trade as a modified vehicle.

I love Friday. And Saturday I am trading in my Lexus. :bananadance::bananadance:

    Check build thread!
I can almost say for certain that this is a dealer to dealer policy, not a Toyota wide one. I've appraised/seen many trucks appraised with a CMC and as long as it isn't butchered, we don't care. Hell, if it's done well it shows the owner may have known what they were doing, or payed someone who did.

Didn’t kill my buddy Shanmar. He’s got a positive attitude about it. His Volks came into the cab when he got distracted counting his cup holders, and hit a hotdog cart doing 90MPH.

Not many left sadly. Quite a few went to prison after helping their buddies out with a CMC. The next-of-kin all lawyered up. The rest are pogoing around, cause their JDM wheels carried off their legs. It’s hard to stay positive when you keep seeing Tacos roll by on 33’s, and you get triggered and everything.

You are so full of shit lol.
I am going to start a cirrus thread, where we can discuss this in an adult like manner. We can include your pitcher of the frame along with crash videos...
Seriously, all I am trying to do is inform some ignorant kid, who has visions of a cool lift that will make him more manly, who has kids of his own, to make sure he is well informed and understands that in very specific situations, a CMC can be a safety thing.

I feel this subject is played out. Here in the depths of this thread, a little foolery seems justified. I did share many serious and scientific links and whatnot, but many fellas just don’t care, which is totally fair.

In my opinion, you should only be allowed to do a CMC on the driver’s side. It’s your own legs.
