Just finished this. Took me over an hour, but I didn’t remove the support bracket. Was a bitch to work around..And btw on the Sport model the brake and clutch reservoir are shared!

For the record, I’ve never bled a single thing before, not even my hydraulic bike brakes. So a few dollars wasted on little helpers seems ok to me. Not sure I’ll need the wrench but it seemed like a good idea for $6. And the magnet on the bottle plus tubing seems worth the $10, but 20 years ago I’d have never wasted the money on either.

I’m a complete rookie at any auto mechanic work beyond car stereo. But I’ve spent plenty of time wrenching bikes and I’m reasonably well stocked on tools so this mod seems within reach given the excellent instructions and more specifically the prefab’d part.

Still, I’m intimidated. And my best buddy from college thought $128 was a fair quote and that I might f it up. I’ve just found, over the years, nobody treats your stuff better than you do.

I plan to post a solid write up once I attempt it. The biggest challenge for me is time, I have a 2.5 y/o and a 5 y/o and a wife who has trouble understanding why this is necessary or a good use of time. I really don’t want to be rushed on this. And I also, honestly, don’t have a single complaint about my clutch right now except that R takes more muscle than 1st.

From what I’ve read, clutch and brake fluid are the same thing but I’ll go grab some dot 3 brake fluid just to be safe since I need to go get a longer j hook anyway.

If I do fail at this I’ll cop to it and describe how I dig my way out. Worst case it’s a 1 mile tow to the shop, we have 3 vehicles and I literally have nowhere I need to be for months.

You'll get it, mate. I didn't have any complaints about my clutch either, until I did the mod... Then my complaint was not doing the mod sooner :bananadead: lol

Just got done doing mine, took me just shy of 2 hours start to finish.
I would definitely recommend removing the exhaust support bracket. I spent probably 45 minutes alone fighting the bolts because of that bracket. And I probably should have jacked the truck up for a little more working space, but I didn't want to drive across town to get my jack back from my brother.
And I spent a good chunk of time getting the bends just right on the hose, I did not want to risk cross threading anything or having it rub on the heat shield.

The main reason I did this delete was because with accumulator reversing and first gear starts on a hill always felt like a gamble, either too much gas waiting for the clutch to release and I would jerk back or not enough and I'd have to worry about rolling into something. Years ago I rolled into one of my own cars while reversing from not giving it enough gas and I think it scarred me for life.
With the delete the clutch releases at the same spot each time, no more rev and guess.

All in all definitely worth the time and money

@Trident904 you should sell out if you’re not gonna make these next year. Seems to be still a want for a quite a few people

Well, I’ve concocted a plan to keep these going for a bit. I’m building a batch of kits before I leave and my wife is going to print labels as I send them to her and ship them out. Just found out that due to COVID closures a lot of places the guy I’m flying wants to visit have no planned reopening dates so we are cutting the contract down to just the summer for now.

I would love to hear more about this gig you have brewing. Someone with tons of cash wants to rent himself or herself a private pilot to take them around on their private jet or something? This is how the world works at that level of wealth?

My current understanding of how this would work is more like the Kobe model where the pilot is provided by some company which also provides the planes so curious about the specifics of this engagement if it’s something you can share? Fascinating regardless.

I flew for a guy who owns a Global 6000 and Falcon 900EX and he has homes all over the world basically. I resigned my position with him several months ago since he was planning on relocating his aircraft to Europe permanently and have been contract flying mostly since. I also work for a Private Jet charter company as their international flight operations director. He asked me to fly for him this summer to train his new captain on his procedures and how he wants things handled on his trips and is paying me an amazing daily rate (Paid daily for every day that I’m not home) in Euros. I’ll make more this summer than I do all year.

The Kobe situation is basically like an air taxi service. Unfortunately there are a lot of shit bag operators out there that have old equipment and they maintain the aircraft cheaply and hire young barely qualified crew members for lower than standard salaries.

These are what I fly. (Not the actual tails due to privacy for the owner)
