You mean East Bilgewater :) Haha..too funny. Spent a lot of time in Whitman AKA Shitman as well. I'm more near the Whitman/Bridgewater side.

This reminds me of our purchase this past summer. We bought a '82 rebuilt Grand Wagoneer from a custom builder, and even as a dealer, he wrote two bills of sale for us-- one much lower than the sale price-- for tax purposes here in MA. It seems this was applicable for us because of the car's age and no real way for the Commonwealth to value it. As an aside, it's a sweet ride.

This just in-- after accepting his offer, later this morning I prepped him for how I would like the transaction to go tomorrow. Wire money, confirmation of receipt at the bank, etc. Crickets all day, then I just got a text from him saying, "due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be able to close the deal." Perhaps something really unfortunate happened today (I hope not), or perhaps I just safeguarded myself from something not so aboveboard. We'll never know...onward!

Ugh. Could be a blessing in disguise, who knows. What was he offering?

Absolutely a blessing in disguise. The chances of a surprise big enough to make a legitimate buyer back out within 24 hours are very slim. He was playing some kind of game and you didn't make yourself an easy target. Good work.

Only other guess is maybe his wife talked him out of it..or something really did happen, improbable but not totally impossible especially nowadays

Yeah, he came for a test drive the weekend before. It’s all good— I had another Friday inquiry, Saturday test drive and offer last night. Accepted this morning, and deposit already paid until a bank transfer to complete purchase later this week!

So in summary, 2012 DCSB off-road w/ DECKED, Leitner Rack, sound upgrade. 93.5k miles. Deal was made at 22k, and all parties are happy.
