I recently installed a set of Fox 2.5 shocks and chose to also add the Accutune U-bolt flip kit / bump stop. Everything seems fine but my question is with regard to the amount of travel between my frame and the new bump stops. I haven’t measured it but it appears as though i only have about 2” at most of travel before the bump stops engage the frame. I called them and they assured me i have the correct size bump stops but i still have concerns. I do realize the bump stops are much softer than the stock ones (which are made out of titanium, i think). What are your thoughts on this? 30B39E18-1183-4E4B-B0CC-17EBC3CFAC9E.jpg9D021B26-11A0-43BF-8311-518FE425CFF9.jpg

I'd trust @AccuTune Offroad, they know their stuff. As you said, the bumpstops are much softer than OEM and will compress well beyond the point of engagement.

It might be hard to see with the shock gators installed, but if you look at the shock shaft, how much room do you have before the shock bottoms out? Basically, at that ride height, how much shock shaft is exposed, from the bottom of the shaft to where it enters the shock body.

    Looks normal to me.

That's how aftermarket bumpstops work. You can't have a soft landing if your stop only has a half inch between contact and bottom-out.

Thank you. I guess I'm just being paranoid. I'm just a dumb dirt biker and I want 12" of travel. haha

Nah, this stuff is expensive. It's perfectly normal to want everything that you paid for out of your components.

Yeah, unfortunately, a Tacoma will never be dirt bike like... but good news! Dirt bikes fit in the bed. Best of both worlds!

If I were you, I’d flip this bolt around so the threads are facing outboard. You’d be surprised how much your axle moves left and right under the truck and under the right circumstances, the threads of the bolt could gouge the gas tank.

If there’s another one further forward, flip that one around as well.

Good catch. I'm taking it in for a torque check after the first 1000 miles and I'll ask the guy who did the install to do that for me, assuming these are one of the bolts he torque checks. If he won't do it, I'll google how to do it myself. I may be dumb but I do know how to follow instructions. :D

Won't be torque checked. But I'm fairly sure, they'll flip it for you. It's a 1 minute task.

Totally normal, I have the same Ubolt flip kit with bumpstop and as long as you told Accutune the correct leaf pack and shocks you’re running, it’s fine. Mine fit close like that as well. They work amazing when you get them out in the dirt as well. When your ass end bottoms out it’s not like a spleen buster like the stock ones are.

What would be the appropriate length for a shock with a collapsed length of 16” inches? Total travel is still 10” which is pretty much normal for most after market shocks short of having to do a shock mount relocation.
