    The question then is... How much fuckery are you going to have to do to make that ECU work on the Tacoma? That is if it is even compatible. Clearly re-pinning connectors and adding wiring would be required.

    I suspect adding a few pins and running wires would be the worst part... the Taco ECU may already have what is required, or the capability to have it added... again, the software exists on the Hiace, same engine, same trans. A wiring diagram comparison of both ECUs will tell the tale.

    Ultimately though, you nail it with the fuckery comment. I suppose the best way to justify it, is that it will possibly continue to meet emissions standards.
