I'd like to add an Adarac system since I have a tri-fold Lowmax bed cover and the two work together from what I've researched.

My question is, are these racks going to stand up to hours driving on the highway with a wide 100+ canoe strapped on it, or is it going to fly off or somehow damage my bed top? I know the YT video looks like I drill and screw in self tapping screws on each side. My issue is I'd like to know if these are just meant for lumber, drywall, and ladders, and not meant for my 100+ pound canoe?

Thank you in advance, it may seem like a silly question but the last thing I need is my boat to fly off into our already chaotic highway, or stay on and ruin my beautiful truck's bed top rail.

I have the Lomax tri fold on a 5 ft. Box. I just installed the Adarac Pro aluminum rack. The Capacity for static load on the rack is 500 lbs. 200 lbs. for a dynamic load load. (Define Dynamic Load) A Canoe is a static load. Wind acting on the canoe is an impulsive load/dynamic. If you install this rack you should know that the only way this rack allows your trifold to actually fold is to mount the uprights at the front most and rear most parts of the rack bed rails. Otherwise there is not enough clearance to pass through the vertical uprights. That puts the crossbars approximately 56 1/2” apart. FYI

Yes, you drill the holes in the bed rail to mount. A template is included that you will lay on the rear most portion of the rail. It marks the position of the first hole that you drill. There are some good YouTube videos on this install.

IMPORTANT: You will be mounting the rail with 3 self-tapping bolts per side. There is a torque spec for this. Use this torque spec! If you strip out the hole…

My truck is a 2023 Tacoma with the 5 ft. Box.

Also, if you are going to haul your canoe you should measure the bow rise from the gunnels as well. I measured about 4 1/2” clearance from the cab roof off the level of the crossbars. They do sell spacers if you need more clearance.

After installation the rack seems very sturdy. I’ll be hauling a ski box and ladders mostly.

    Hope this is helpful.

Thank you for all the info, I ended up purchasing and installing it. So far it was definitely worth the investment since I already had the adarac tri-fold bed cover, now I can haul my canoe or kayak on the racks and keep my gear from getting stolen with the tri-fold closed when I'm parked at the Walmart in Methville shopping for last minute camping gear.
