I'm wiring up an OEM LED light bar switch from Mictuning. I've gotten a lot of help from reading posts about the wiring configurations, but I have a question about the add-a-circuit. I've read about people who have put the fuse in the "tail" spot and people who have put it in the "panel" spot. Is there a preferred option? And also, what fuses do I need to put in the add-a-circuit? I'm new to all of this, so any input will be greatly appreciated!

Are you wiring this using a relay along with a harness?

To be honest, I'm not quite sure. I ordered a Mictuning wiring harness and just switched out the switch from the one that came with the harness to the OEM switch. The only thing extra that I've added is the add-a-circuit to the fuse box.

Ok so where I’m going with this is if you got a harness to go along with the light bar it should be prewired with a relay and you just connect the power and ground to the battery. Coming from the harness there should be 3 wires going to the switch. One is power coming from the harness, another is power going back to the relay telling it to send power to the lights and last will be a ground. Depending on the switch there might be a 4th pole to connect wire from a dash light circuit to light the switch with headlights on. All this means is you don’t need to do a circuit tap at all. Apologies if this isn’t the information you’re looking for. Attach some photos of what you have that might help

If you use the “tail” spot it will only come on when the headlights are on

The switch does have a 4th wire which, I've read, is to be run to the fuse box in order for the backlighting on the switch to work the same as the other interior lights (on at night and off in the day). I've already got it wired up; I'll send some pictures in a minute. But really what I'm looking for is what spot on the fuse box to use and what kind of fuses to use in the add-a-circuit.

This is how I’ve got it right now. I’ve got the two 10 amp fuses in there now just because that’s what I had.

2 things- I’d recommend a lower amperage fuse for just backlighting the switch. This will work but you’re not going to be able to dim the switch backlighting as you dim the dash lights. Just plug into you taillight circuit- can’t remember if this is in the cab or engine compartment

Thanks for the help! I think the tail light fuse is a 7.5A, so replacing one of the 10A's I have in there now with the 7.5A fuse from the tail light spot should do the trick!
