Hopefully someone can shed some “light” on this question..
I have a 32” LED bar that’s been installed for months now, works great. I’m working on installing raptor lights in the grille (3 super small amber pods, each light has 2 LEDs in it).
I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to tap into and use the add-a-fuse I installed for the 32” LED light bar.
    The add-a-fuse is currently a 10 amp.

Is this a possible solution? Or should I run a separate add-a-fuse for just the raptor lights.

    I appreciate the help. Thanks

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Bump

Well does the led bar use a relay ?

Do you want to be able to turn on one off the raptor lights? Or do you want them always in with the truck ?

The only reason you might tap into that is only for the LOW VOLTAGE side of the RELAY. You "need" (to be read as should) the main power to come from the battery with the proper in-line fuse.

That’s what I was thinking, must have used a relay. In that case he “could” tap the add a fuse again for the raptor lights as that is still not much current, but I wouldn’t reccomend doing that at all.

You are right. I wouldn't do that either. This reminds me. I need to do some electrical work on my truck. :)

As these guys about stated you can use that power source to send power to your switch and from there to the trigger on a relay. This is very little current draw. If you’re doing this without a relay then get power directly from battery ( fused) and through a properly rated switch. Make sure you size the fuse slightly above what the lights are rated at. Just round it up to the next largest size fuse.

Same here! Luckily I’ve already added a blue sea fuse block and have started it the “right” way lol

Yes, the LED bar came with a standard wiring harness that has a relay I bolted to the inside of the engine bay.

No I do not want them to turn on all the time. I bought a separate switch I will wire into it so that I have the option to turn them on or off. The led bar currently can be turned on/off when the car is off. Thanks

This is what I am following. When you mean in line fuse, do I not need to tap into the fuse box at all?

In line fuse would be straight from the battery

Ok so then I wouldn’t need an add-a-fuse coming from the fuse box under my dash like I did for the LED bar? I’ve never use and in line fuse before. Thank you

The harness you got should have a fused power wire going directly to the relay. Usually in these harnesses the bring a power wire from the same connection at the relay up to the switch and then a return wire coming back to the relay that triggered the relay when the switch is turned on. There’s usually a ground that runs with those 2 wires. If this is how yours is set up then on need for fuse tap

If you have a switch that gets back lit when your headlights are on then a fuse tap could be used on tail light circuit for a light power source. The drawback to this is the switch backlight wouldn’t dim with the rest of the dash lighting.

I haven't read anything past my last post but I tap into the fuse block for things that I do not want on if the ignition key is not at least in the ACC position. Aux lights, supercharger intercooler pump, air compressor, etc.

They do not provide power for the end item. The power is only used to energize the low amp side of the relays through the use of a switch. The power for the accessory goes from a battery to a relay and then to the accessory.

    I hope that helps.

OH YEAH - Both circuits need to have the appropriately sized fuse. Unless you owe more than its worth.
