I also have the 6112s and TC UCAs . Set at top notch but not installed yet . Going to order 2" AAL , bilstein 5125s and the longer SS brake lines for the rear from Wheelers off road . What size wheels are you running and do you have a dif drop installed . Mine is2008 AC , 6' bed.thanks .

 

I believe you are correct . The 5125s are for 2-3" lift .

 

2nd generation 5100s (rear) will work fine with a single leaf AAL.
That's what I have. Gained about 2" of lift from AAL. Expect it to settle for about 0.5". Rod has about 3"-4" of travel on top of the 2" lift which is enough for off-roading. Ride is fine just a little bit stiff over the speed bumps

 

My 6112's are set at the top notch, I am running 265/70/17's only because the bastards at my local tire shop ordered wrong size rims that wouldn't fit 285's. No diff drop.

17x9 with -12 offset. Should have been 17x8 or 8.5 and -6 or 0 offset.

 

Any rubbing any where up front?

 

Rubbed on the 4th notch, no more on the top. Only when I'm backing up and the wheel is at full crank.

Once these tires wear out, i'll sell the rims and get the right ones to fit 285s.

 

??? The wheels I ordered are 17x9 -12. So 285/70/17 wont fit? I'm lifting the truck with 5100 with ome 888 with AAL.

Willtheyfit.com is a great source, i wish i used it first. My understanding is that with that wheel/tire combo you may need to do a CMC which is a Cab Mount Chop. Basically chop the mount, grind it flat and then re-weld a flat piece of metal to make room for the tires. Also take off the stock mud guards.

If you got minimum 3 inches out of your lift, you might get away with it after doing a CMC.

To try and get around having to CMC, i'd get 17x8 wheels with like -6 or -12 offset. You could even do 17x8.5 but that might be pushing it.

(I'm not an expert, just from experience of having a "professional tire shop" fuck me over by putting on 17x9 -12 wheels and not fitting 285s adn telling me they are mounted and they can't do anything about it.)

 

Thanks for the info. Where exactly was you rubbing at? I don't mind doing a CMC if theres not a lot of rubbing issue else where. My main concern is clearing the UCA

 

You'll clear the UCA. You have 4.5" of backspacing, and that's the tried and true number for clearing the UCA. You're going to stick out 2.5" over stock though, so you'll definitely rub the CMC. I had wheels that stuck out 2" over stock, and I did the CMC as mentioned above, hammered the pinch weld and trimmed some plastic with a dremel and was all good. I hammered the pinch weld preemptively, so you could wait and see if you need to do it.

What config is your truck? double cab, access cab, 4x2, 4x4?

EDIT: On the plus side, 285s look sick as hell when there's a little stance. This is sticking out 2" over stock.

Truck is a DC OR 4X4

 

I was just showing the truck off to show the sweet stance you're gonna get! I have 885 coils, which net me ~2.5" of lift. The 888 coils on your truck will net you the same ~2.5" of lift, so for all intents and purposes, we would essentially have to do the same amount of trimming. So CMC a must, trimming a little plastic a must, and the pinch weld a maybe!

 

The wheel well, it was ridiculous. I could turn the steering wheel maybe 2 inches and then it would rub, but that was on the 4th notch and not the 5th.

I was an idiot and only took pictures before and after install, and didn't measure. But from what i've heard, you get about 2.5 inches from the 6112s with the 650lb coil.

 

Going with 265/75 17s for me . Do not want to trim or do a CMC .

Oops , yea I mean 265/70 17 !17x9 wheel 0 offset . This pushes me away from UCA about another inch than what I have now and adds just under 2" of "poke" .

 

Total you'll be sticking out 2.5" over stock. It'll look good! You may rub though sticking out that far.

Stock wheels are 7.5" wide with 5.5" backspacing. That means there's 2" of wheel on the outer edge of the mounting point. Yours are 9" wide with 5" back spacing which means 4" on the outer edge of the mounting point. This means 2" past stock.

I was incorrect about original post as I was calculating backspacing in my head and did it wrong as I forgot part of the formula.
