Hey guys, so I read in the tsb section that toyota will add a leaf in the rear for free if the truck is still under warranty. I was thinking about having this done since I heard that our trucks have problems sagging over time, I was curious about a few things though:

    1. How much higher will the back of the truck sit? I know adding a leaf should make the back sit higher but how much? Is it really a noticeable difference as opposed to the three leaf?

    2. How much will the ride quality suffer? I know its going to stiffen the ride but would it be really uncomfortable or just a minor difference?

Thanks guys, and if any of you have had this done please share your experience and post pics if you dont have a lift on the truck.

Makes the rear 1" higher after settling. And it's stiffer. Rides like a truck instead of a car.

This is my truck stock with the rear TSB done. didn't notice any difference in the ride(maybe slightly stiffer but not real noticable)

Mine was "bouncy"--added the AAL--smoothed the ride--I was pleased w/the difference--I am pretty sure it added 2" w/no load.

No I added AAL for the 2003--It improved my ride.
It is likely they are similar.

I reply to this thread about my Experience this morning

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...b-list-2005-toyota-tacoma-34.html#post5432122

They need to see the truck sag before they make some action and start ordering the parts

I told the Service Manager and the Mechanic not to touch my Shock as I already put a Bilstein 5100's on it and all I want is the Leaf Spring, U bolt and Bump stop

btw prior to this I have no idea about the TSB and bought AAL from toytec and I feel the slight difference with a ride it get a bit stiffer (I mean really tiny bit ) I wonder what's the difference between TSB and AAL

the guy from toytec told me that even with the TSB if I needed to make the bed more firm that I can added the AAL even after the TSB is done

on the pic its showing only 1 bike but I normally haul 2 bike

It really depends on the dealer. I just called mine and told them I was bottoming out with a load, and they didn't even look at the truck. Ordered the parts and installed. But then some folks have battled for months with the dealer and still didn't get the tsb.

If you are hauling two bike ---- you will want the tsb and the AAL
I had hellwig over load springs and they were not enough for a 600 lbs ATV. The TSB only added about 200 lbs more than the stock non TSB springs

yeah so I've read that some will have hard time getting it and some will just easy as pie
as long as you're within the limit of warranty 3 years / 36,000 miles whichever come first they should do it
as for my Case I've called Toyota USA 1-800-331-4331 and plea my case and they've gave me a Case# to present to any dealer of my Choice

    Stock for now.
Just wondering,I thought the REAR TSB issue was mainly for TRD O-F and not the Sport as the Off-Road already come with 1 less leaf spring.. Am I wrong? Will they honor the TSB for the TRD Sport?

yes they will but problem is..... if yours is 2012 its not yet included in the TSB
Toyota has yet to come up with a newly update one that include 2012

My suggestion is if you're hauling heavy load and your truck is sagging, then get an AAL to fix the problem for awhile until they come out with a new list of Rear Spring TSB that will include 2012

Wait a second here. OP is a 2012 trd sport. Don't some of the 2012 sports come with 4 leaves from the factory?
