Add a leaf with stock Bilstein 4600?

    So are statements like this more cover-their-ass than gospel?

    CAUTION: It is not recommended to use stock length rear shocks when installing a lift. If running aftermarket rear shocks be sure they are able to support the additional lift to prevent shock damage.

    If you have ever seen a shock pop the mount off the end of the shaft, you will know that statement is not for covering thier ass... a shock is not designed to be the limiter of suspension travel.

    That's what I figured and have been surprised how many people have done it. I guess the stock shocks handle the AAL just fine until they in don't.

    Can confirm this is correct. Just replaced my stock toyota off-road shocks with true bilstein 4600s. The difference between the two is night and day. Handling as well as braking is improved; body roll when cornering and nose diving when braking is greatly reduced with the 4600s.
