Hellwig and Addco. Negative on the tips, except to follow their installation instructions. Oh, make sure to get the right one for lift you may have.

Do trucks benefit from a rear sway bar like a car does or are they detrimental to off road performance?

Most offroad trucks will remove the sway bar. Never drove a lifted tacoma w/ a rear sway bar, but I'm sure it couldnt hurt for street performance.

Your truck will benefit from a rear bar if your truck understeers. The factors leading to understeer or oversteer are many, so no two vehicles are the same. You simply have to understand the concept and understand how to feel it in your vehicle. My truck understeered, so I installed a rear bar in 2012. It definitely improved the handling of my truck. It may or may not improve yours. Bear in mind that the rear bars for these trucks are very light compared to the front. The Helwig has three positions for the links which gives you a bit of tuning ability. The farther toward the end of the bar you connect the link, the smaller the effect. The bar I run has negligible effect on off road ability.

I have to reiterate that I'm not suggesting you get one. It is a suspension tuning tool, so it only helps if you need it. If your truck already handles neutrally, or oversteers, adding a rear bar could actually be dangerous. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, spend your money on a stereo instead.
