I doubt it would make a huge difference in my Taco, but I had a black leather upholstered SUV before. The sunroof made a huge difference cooling things down on a hot summer day. Never leaked or gave me any grief, and it was a Hyundai. My 80s Volvo also had one, it jammed a bit occasionally, but I always payed attention when closing it and it never leaked either.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
Not a good idea to add one. Sell your current truck for another that has one.

I hated them and am glad my Tacoma doesn't have one. I have a broken factory one on my '03 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and may swap it for another Evo that doesn't have one in the future.

Vehicles without sunroofs are not worth buying.

I wouldn't do it, I have one, but rarely use it. My old 2001 when I bought it in 2001 I had one put in by the dealer,
It lasted 10 years, then the leaks came, was almost impossible to find someone to fix it, including toyota, eventually just
sealed it up, but couldn't use it, so it's a no for me!!!

OP needs to look for a Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible Pickup.

There is a local one I keep an eye on.

If it was possible, like trading hoods for one with or without a scoop, I would trade you my roof with its sunroof for yours that does not have one. Heck, I'd even throw in some cash.....

Have to have a sunroof. Factory only. Although my future brother in law put one in my wife’s’ Monte Carlo and it never leaked.

What year? Dakota's can be nice, but reliability is very hit or miss depending on the year.

There's only one way to purchase an aftermarket sunroof and not regret it.

... The sunroof needs to come with its own license plate. :anonymous:

What's funny is if I had kept my Miata I would've gotten a hard top. Love sun/moon roofs but realized I didn't care for convertibles.

They're deafeningly loud (literally and not in a fun way), they require constant waterproofing, you couldn't keep the dust out if you tried, you can't see anything above or around the license plate in front of you, and you'll be blinded by any headlight that shines down from above... which is all of them.

And I wouldn't trade it for anything.

    100% agree!

I got one because it was the lightest manual transmission RWD sports car I could afford at the time. Occasionally I think about finding one and doing a motor swap.

Lol. I bought one of these out of a junkyard in the late 90s for 10 bucks and put it in my 88 Ford Ranger. One afternoon, a jigsaw and a few tubes of silicone later I had a sunroof. No chance I would do that in a modern truck.

If you trade vehicles every 3-5 yrs it probably doesn't matter. I tend to keep mine about 20 yrs so I have to say no thanks to sunroofs.

Have had a few vehicles with factory sunroofs over the years and after about 7 years they tend to have issues. Never had an aftermarket one.

About 28 years ago i put a sunroof on my motorcycle. Worst idea ever, it was near impossible to hold it over my head and drive the bike. I'll never do that again.

I see you have got a perfect little rack for an RTT there.
