Long answer is lots of $$$, better off trading in for a truck that already has it.

This is a question I posed to my service manager. He would never commit to a yes- all he would say is "You'll get farther with ARB's than you ever will with A-TRAC."
I think you could- all that makes it work is software. Everything mechanical needed is already there.
That said, I'm just going with ARB's...

In the end, an ARB rear locker will be cheaper and more reliable than retrofitting ECU and making sure everything is functioning as it should.

I didn't realize there were actual mechanical differences. This would explain his non-commitment.
Haha I know your name is whipple because you mentioned that before. No, mine's Mehlenbacher

These (TRD) superchargers are made by Magnuson.
    Here's the story...
My older brother gave me this '89 chev 4x4 as payment for painting his racecar. He drove it for years, and his kids nicknamed it Whiplash because he always drove the bag off it. Yes, that odometer reading says 873,626. Original 350, 4th 5 speed.

Whiplash Jr. was this 03 S-10 I built starting with a base model 4cyl 5 speed. My sister in law named it the first time she saw it because it looked a lot like Sr. (Still had the factory charcoal front end at that time)
Gave it colormatched everything and a "Speedbag" air ride set up from Master Image Customs. Summer drove it only. Sold it to a high school kid a few years down the road. He kept it nice but wanted something faster, so he put it up for sale a couple years later. While sitting, a pipe truck ran over the back of it.
It was repairable, but he took it to one of our competing bodyshops and the owner of that shop was intimidated by the plumbing for the air ride (needed a new box, as you can see) so he let it sit and sit until... a wind storm one night whipped the tonneau cover up and smashed the roof. This additional damage turned the truck into a write-off. Don't know where it is currently... RIP, Jr.:(
As I've mentioned in other posts, I originally ordered my Taco white, so it seemed fitting (having ordered a manual trans) that this should be the succession of the lineage... I ordered the truck on a Saturday and ordered this plate the following Tuesday, far before I had the color changed to SM.
And now you know... the rest of the story!

Yep. Parked because it needs roughly $2500 of parts to make it legal/safe. The only things that don't leak fluids on that old girl are the fuel tank (already replaced), the rear diff, and the brakes! You can hang that thing at WOT for hours and it just keeps taking it... has a Helix throttlebody spacer on it that whistles louder than any other one I've heard... high school kids think it's turbocharged:rolleyes:but really, it's just bagged out!:p

'09 and newer TRD sport has the brake booster I think(Auto LSD), '08 and older has a mechanical limited slip already.

Either way, ARB or swap in an E-locker axle. ARB would be better tho, plus you'd use the larger ring gear 3rd.
