I have a 2009 Tacoma 4 cyl 5 spd that did not come with remote entry. The truck came with electric locks. Toyota dealer says they don't make a package to convert to remote entry. I would like to have it now but I am reluctant to have some electronic shop install something by cutting a whole lot of my wiring to do it. Any thoughts on this?

I had some shop do it and it works great. Mine was $80 out the door, alarm and keyless entry. Took about an hour, lifetime warranty. Other than the blinking indicator light you can't tell he did anything, tucked everything out of the way. I am very happy with it

    Check out my sig...
Dealer wants you to buy the factory stuff. Go to almost any car audio place and pick the entry/alarm/remote start of your choice and they'll install it.

IF you have a few extra bucks OR you know someone who wants to buy you an early birthday &/or Christmas present, consider VIPER starters/alarm combos!

The Viper 5902 (2-way remote start and alarm with 1 mile range)

Viper has versions for manual transmissions, and I think you see enough snow and crime in NY to warrant the starter/entry/alarm model. I love mine! Truck and seats are warm by the time I get to it from my centre ice seat at hockey games.

Expect $300-$600 installed. Money well spent in my book!
