Anyone know if we can add fuel while the truck runs? My other vehicles would throw the check engine light because it would sense air in the fuel line.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with this or not.

Almost guarantee it will throw a fault. Besides it's dangerous to do.

Why not just shut it off?

Usually I realize my tank is 3/4 and then go to the gas station, pull up to a pump, park, turn the vehicle off, get out, lock my truck, open the door and twist off the gas cap, pay for gas and then pump the gas and return it to the pump, And then twist the cap back on, close the little door, unlock my truck, get inside, start her up, play some Rick roll tunes and drive away.

Also in some areas it is illegal to pump gas while the vehicle runs.

I never really realized how much of a skill set it was to pump gas.

I was going to ask the same question too but was wondering if its okay to talk on my phone and smoke while the truck is running and the kids in the back.

Thanks OP for breaking the ice by starting this thread.:anonymous:

Lol. In Michigan, during the winter, everyone does this. Including me. Been fueling up the car while running since the beginning of OBDI. Never had a code thrown.

How many times have you seen people driving with their gas cap loose? I bet lots.

It takes a few hours to trigger the CEL with the cap off.

You are fine to fill while running.

It's why you can't DIY in metro Oregon and anywhere in NJ

Apparently they find the residents sketchy in those skills.

Yeah, New Jersey has no self serve gas- not too bad, especially during the Winter months.
