I have to replace the two add on USB ports in my son's 2011 Pre Runner. I put them in originally a few years ago and they ports themselves have crapped out as USB ports sometimes do. It's not the power, as the blue LEDs are still lit.

Anyway, they are in the center switch panel and I can't remember how they pop out. I don't recall doing any disassembly but if someone can post a picture of how switches and such pop out I'd appreciate.

If there is a previous thread on this, just posting the link would be even easier.

    Thanks.

It's easiest to pull the whole panel and get to the back side. They look like this on the back- you break them if pulling from the front. Unless your intention is to throw the old ones out, then yank ahead. :cookiemonster:

    Thanks!

Yes, the old ones are going to be trashed because the actual USB connectors seem to be broken. It's pretty common for them to break if someone tries to force the plug in while driving. Which my son does pretty often. He's not gentle. ;)

I just ordered what I think is the exact replacement so all I should have to do is pull the old ones out, disconnect the wiring harness, plug the new ones in and snap them into place.

To get the old ones out, you should be able to shim the tabs at the top and bottom of the USB insert by putting a strip of something thin and flexible between the body of the insert and the console - I use a strip of flexible cutting board, but a chunk of suicide plastic (like from a retail bubblepack) works good too.

No need to faff with disassembly or reaching behind the console that way.
