Needing more button space as I get ready to add (future) upgrades. Thought hard about an overhead plate for the unused glasses spot, but I only need a few slots not 6+. I saw that FS Custom made a 4 switch panel for the center consul behind the shifter and felt this would be a good compromise; however, they only made the plate for the small center area switches and I already had switches in hand for the larger lt side of the dash holes... I contacted Ron, and he got right on making a new plate for these switches-COOL!

So here is the install with pictures:
First things first I did some measuring and looking to see if those looooong switches even had a place to go.

I pulled the cover off and set the switch plate on there to get a feel for what things might look like. Right away I could see that there is a plastic extension behind the shifter gate that projects back into the space I need for the plate if it is centered. Hummmmm. The purpose of that plastic is to keep things from interfering with the sliding cover part of the shifter gate as it comes back and is rolled down if you go all the way into L. So I measured the distance from the shifter in park and compared it to the cover to see where that plastic part site with the cover on.

So... that plastic part conflicts some, but it is doable without to much alteration. Knowing that I marked out the opening and cut the hole for the switch plate.

Took some time to open the hole up exact, but the plastic responded well to the cut off tool and it went fast.
Using the opening I just cut I marked the plastic intruder and cut it out for clearance. Not much needed to be cut for clearance.

With the modifications finished I inserted the plat and my switches. I am short one cover, but I will pick one up tomorrow.

Wiring is not finished, but the heaters and lights are not installed yet...
Fun and easy project. A big shout out to Ron and FS Custom! Cheers.
