Adding a little bass

Yeah right. And to be honest the stock "tweeters" i wouldnt call tweeters... more like an upper mid range as they are around a 1.75in diameter cone. Either way, VERY happy with my pioneer components.

Also note grab some foam tape for the surfaces between the main speakers and adapters and adapters to door surfaces, Dont want no rattling now. I got two rolls of closed cell foam tape, 1/4in wide, 3 bucks a roll for 25 ft at the hardware store, turned out great.

 

Check. Already picked up some rubber/foam with taped backing. I think it's for window sealing but should do the trick.

 

Yeah realistically anything to cushion the surface between door / adapter and adapter/speaker.

 

If you are looking for some added bass this is always a good option that doesn't break the bank.

 

I installed the Kenwood bass (linked in OP's post) in my truck last year. It's been awesome so far! I installed it under my driver's seat, since I needed the cargo space behind the rear seats. I haven't had any complaints about the passenger's feet being too cramped either. It definitely helped my overall sound quality of my tacoma. I should also mentioned I replaced all stock speakers & tweeters as well, and it sounds heavenly in my truck now.

 

Still interested in this as well. As far as which unit, would depend on price point but I'm thinking why not go for the 400w option lol

 

Just to clarify- the loudness of the new speakers will depend on their sensitivity, rated in spl. The higher the spl, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will go with less volume. The stock speakers are such absolute garbage that I'd bet they don't hit 83 spl. High end speakers will hit 92 spl. Just make sure to get something around 89 spl and they will be MUCH louder.

Also, the stock tweeter is wired backward on purpose. It throws the tweeter out of phase with the woofer, and can provide a more dynamic sound. When you put your new speakers in, you can wire yours up either way and choose whichever you prefer.

 

Interesting, I figured it with the 3 ways on the bottom i didnt want to start canceling out the high notes out of the tweeters on both speakers.

Ive got one of these installed under my drivers seat. Awesome little sub for installs that need to keep as much cargo space as possible. I use to have it installed in a 92 single cab s-10 until I upgraded to the ac taco. These can be added to the stock head unit aswell as aftermarket head units. It has a high level/low level input setting for speaker input and rca inputs. The rca input will require a rca to speaker wire adapter which i'd recommend if you upgrade to a head unit that has subwoofer outputs.

I actually put on in my wifes 370z last year and have to say we were imppressed with. The Z is very small inside, but it definatly fills a void and we recomeend it if you are loooking to add to the bottom end.
