OK, seems I need to explain myself. I owned a Suburban that handled all my needs, including pulling a trailer for my Harleys. I decided to scale down to a Subaru because I needed the all-wheel-drive and it supposed to pull enough load for the bike. Turns out the Subaru is a great vehicle except utility. So, we traded my wife Highlander for a Grand Cherokee for my wife that will handle loads and trailers better. There were several reasons why we didn't like the Highlander. Now I find that I often need the Jeep and/or a trailer in a pinch and she is gone. So, I end up barrowing my sons Tacoma, which does a great job most of the time without the trailer. That is how I got to replacing my Subaru with a Tacoma.

    Hope that helps.

The layout inside the Tacoma from 16-23 is virtually identical other than button placements moving around and one cubby slot to the left of the wheel gets removed as u go up in year, with that being said does anybody know if its possible to swap out manual seats to power seats. i dont see why it would be an issue considering they are the same size seats and everything and all youd need is to run wiring but if anyone has any knowledge regarding that id appreciate the help

Before you blow all that money you should try the seat jackers. Worked for me, I love my seat now.

im mostly looking for the power seat for the lumbar, the heights and such i can live with the lumbar on the manual seats are awful though and ive already put so much money into the truck it feels worth it to add the power seat if it makes sense opposed to buying a cheap cushion that also makes the vehicle look bad, appreciate the input though

You mean I can have a power seat by just hooking up 2 wires? I'll take my wire clippers out to the truck right now. <eyeroll>

You would need the power seat. But what other wires do you think you need?

In the vein of asking questions unrelated to previous posts.. How inexpensive is the power seat?

I love how you make a condescending joke about that but more or less thats all you have to do.. its not like youre wiring it all yourself youre just hooking it up and adding a fuse which

Its really just gonna depend where you find one, junkyard would probably be best bet or else youll paying a lot more, as the original guy posted he found one for 100$ at a junkyard with a blown airbag and just had his good airbag swapped into the power seat and then was good to go, finding one with minimal damage is ideal or look for one with a super torn up cover and just replace it with yours or buy new ones and youll be on the cheaper end of things

it may be different where youre from since models change a bit depending on that but where i am all vehicles are already pre installed with wiring for the power seats even if the year of vehicle didnt have a power seat option, most vehicles come from factory with all the wiring already there and just not hooked up, its a lot easier to mass produce the same setup of a vehicle and just not hook up certain options rather than individually producing different setups for each vehicle in accordance to their package

from the pictures ive seen the mounting looks very similar. i doubt our vehicles have the hookup since we are pre 2020 when electric seats were an option.

Im unsure if yours does but i actually had one of my buddies whos a wiz with wiring up anything and he took a look at it and the wiring is there in my truck atleast so id imagine the same applies to you unless it changes depending where you live. like in the states you can get a certain trim of tacoma such as a sport but then the heated seats is a package option to add to it for more money where as where im from its just included within the trim level so thats what i mean by they vary a bit depending where the vehicle comes from and im not sure if that applies to the wiring aswell, its worth checking if you're interested in doing it yourself though, and even if the wiring isnt there it still isn't a difficult job you would just have to run a wire to your battery under your floor trim or console trim or wherever you wanna do it and then just hook it up to accessory power, if you dont know anything about wiring it is easier than it sounds haha especially if you get it done professionally, the wiring itself probably take an hour if i were to guess just to run the wire to the battery and through your firewall into the cab assuming it isnt already there

but honestly it makes sense that it would be there regardless of it being pre 2020, the vehicle hasnt had a model redesign since 16 so theyre all built the same and besides toyota typically plans ahead for stuff like that, its the same idea the way they put empty button slots in your vehicle so you can add additional accessories with ease

You can wire the seats directly to your battery and not even deal with adding any factory parts. seat belt, airbags and such should work. unless they changed that in the newer ones. I retrofitted a set of Audi S5 seats into my 2nd gen and wires the seats and seat heaters (using aftermarket regulators) directly to a fuse block that is set up on a line to the battery/breaker. You generally have th seats available with car on/off so works as expected. It would not be too hard to do that if you are able to source a seat.
