I searched before posting but was unable to find the answer I was looking for. So the TRD has the rear locker and it is not 24/7 just activated when the switch is pressed. Is it possible to purchase something aftermarket that does the same thing? I know that a full time locker can be installed but I thought that was not good for the street. So is it possible to get a rear locker that is like the TRD option? Thanks

If you have the trd rear end there are no aftermarket options.

If you have the sport or sr5 look into ARB air locker. They are pricey but are pushbutton operated and very very nice to have.

How does the locker work in the TRD and is it possible to get one like that?

If you can find a trd rear end and all the wiring i would think you could do a swap but not 100% sure... anyone who has done this???

No cuz you have to change the whole axle. And then all the wiring. It would be cheaper at that point for an ARB... Unless you get it all given to you and know your way around the wiring and everything...

The TRD sport has a mechanical Limited Slip Differential (LSD) google it if you want to know how it works.
The TRD OFF ROAD has an E-Locker or electronic (selectable) locker. It operates as an open diff until you select it to be locked via electric motor.

The e-locker requires an e-locker axle housing. Not much different than the LSD housing but has a notch on the drivers side to account for the electronic actuator. You CANNOT use an LSD housing for an e-locker third member without modification. You actually have to grind and cut a notch in the housing, and re-drill some mounting holes.

Considering most e-locker housings are going for $1100+, you may be better off going with an ARB.

    A few bolts are different.
I studied doing the TRD axle swap in my Sport. The cost is about the same for an inferior product versus the ARB locker.

You do not need all the factory wiring. 12voltguy.com has a harness that bypasses all the factory stuff.
