Hey all. I know it’s a silly question but I’d like to see some RTT setups on first gens that have a canopy and see if there’s anyone who converted a ladder rack to fit a RTT, annex and canopy.
I’m looking at getting a setup from a friend and would like to keep the canopy on my truck for when things get wet. I’ve seen it done before but can’t remember who did it or what they did to make it work. Just looking for some inspiration

    I'm revisiting this.

Ideally, I'd like to find a ladder rack that fits over the Leer 100R I have now. I'd pull the existing rack I have up there and replace with a low profile pop-up RTT on the ladder rack.

I know I've come across some that have done similar, just can't seem to locate any via search. About the only time search has failed me.

Thx but I want a rack to fit over the leer cap for a stronger support for an rtt. Want to keep the cap - don't want a soft topper or exposed bed. One of @turbodb 's bed racks (he's closer) would be my choice if I was going to ditch the cap.

Your best bet would be to have a local shop build you a rack that mounts under your cap and goes over the top. I have seen ladder racks sold for this purpose, but they are usually quite tall.

    4 run, 2 don't
    This.

And it'll be custom to one's camper shell to accommodate those windoors and whatnot.

Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
Just saw a YouTube video of a guy who did this. He made an exo-frame to go around a the topper. Basically flat bars that attached to mounting points of the bed and the exo frame was welded to these tabs that stuck out from under the topper mounting area. He did it to alleviate any weight from the RTT on the topper itself. If you have a welder, a way to cut and bend some pipe shouldn't be too hard.

Bought some angle iron. Mounted two strips to top of topper shell. The the other two on the tent and bolted them together when on truck.
And in hot part of the year ditch the camper n built this rack from 1 1/2 tubing.

Have you thought of building a clamshell RTT out of extruded aluminum?
