Adding a second lighter plug above center console.

    If I was just splicing in a second outlet socket above the center console, would this be safe?

    Just adding one and leaving it behind the console.

    I can think of better ways to do a splice into the lighter circuit.

    Just how much total current draw will you be pulling ??

    Any exposed terminals in theory should be insulated to keep from shorting .

    Would it happen with my luck most likely .

    In theory, yes, it would be fine. I added a similar panel in my back seat.

    There are other options available unless you specifically want a 12v plug like that.

    It's for a module I'll be hiding under the center console. Might just add a fuse it.
