Most if not all aftermarket amplifiers have speaker level inputs to allow the use of a factory head unit, or one without pre-amp outputs, for an input signal.

You would splice into your front speaker wiring, and feed them directly to the amplifiers "speaker level input". Most amplifiers actually come with an adapter for a much cleaner install.

Other people have used some sort of line converters which I've never been a fan of.

Really, a new headunit with certain features like time alignment will really help get the most out of your system.

If you want to power 4 full range speakers, yes a 4 channel amp.

A 5 channel if you want the option of adding a subwoofer, but I've always liked a subwoofer having its own dedicated amp to run bridged.

T-HARNESS! Buy a T-Harness! No splice! Splice bad!

anybody know where to get a t harness for a 2020 tacoma head unit? I am in the same boat. Trying to wire a new amp (4 speakers + sub) to factory head unit and don't like the idea of splicing into the factory harness.

I’m working on a project for my 4Runner and need a T-Harness too. I opted for the Audison Prima stuff. They have a Toyota harness but I think it’s made specifically for their Bit amps.

    Probably ********* has one too.

I bought one from Tac0 tunes.. I had one in the 2015 truck I had along with the ez recurve unit. I just had to order a new harness. The plug on the back of the head unit for the 2020 is different. There are a few threads on 2020 stock head unit with amp / sub builds..

Does Metra make the harness? Or can you only get it from *********?

Thanks for the info. I'm in the lazy/less hassle category, so I will order the kit. I've heard the 2020 power seats make it difficult to fit amp under drivers side seat. Did you have to do anything so it would fit? I have the same amp and was planning to put in same location.

Good point on passenger side. Looks like I missed group buy, but will probably just grab one from website.

They do help out.. When I get some extra coin, I'll look into the panel for mounting stuff on the driver side. I could also use a boost in seat height since I'm pretty short.

As far as I can find, only ttunes makes a harness. Metra and other suppliers don't currently make a harness for 2020 Tacomas according to their websites.

At this point thinking of making my own. Anybody know where to find the right rectangular connectors?
Sorry voodoonsr5, realized I may have hijacked this thread. I'll shut up now.

Thanks! Wow that is a great thread. I'm still trying figure out how to search/locate what I'm looking for in TW.

I'm feeling adventurous. Might try and locate the right connectors to wire my own harness. Ill update if I find a way forward. Thinking I'll peruse the depths of the digikey catalog.
