you can't siphon through the filler neck of our tanks (and most modern vehicles). there is a screen before you get to the tank.

The siphon end isn't from the truck tank, it's from the extra gas cans. You can easily direct the non-siphon end of the tube far enough into the truck refueling receptacle to have it stay in place. I have seen one person add an extension to the end of the tube with success to allow him to not remove the tank from the truck bed, though that might not be necessary depending on whatever you have going on with the truck bed (cap, cover, windoors).

A lot of farmers, ranchers, and loggers have setups not unlike some of these for their diesel trucks and equipment. Many of them have a large, maybe 250 gallon, tank in the bed of their truck for refueling equipment. I guess if they wanted to run the highway rated fuel in their equipment they could fuel their trucks from the big tank in the bed. With some of the setups in this thread I could fill up just once a week instead for twice per week. Pretty cool.

Good point about the vacuum. I actually thought it was pressurized, rather than vacuumed.

Did you drill a hole in the bed to route the hose?

it held up well for 10 years, but i actually tore it all out a few months ago when i started Linking my truck. so no more bed or factory tank, jsut a fuel cell now. i had to replace the remote fill hose once due to UV rot, but other than that it worked great the entire time. the marine tank is linked at the bottom of the page. everything else was just random fittings from the hardware and autoparts stores. same with the fuel pumps. i just got the highest flow rate 12V fuel pumps from Amazon.

since doing this, there are a few good aftermarket setups available now, that come with all of the parts and pieces. some slick ones fit under the bed, where the stock spare tire would go.
