Easy peasy...for autos..........have to buy the clutch switch if manual. Yes, ditch the black wire and replace with brown that has the ground for airbag..............

I just purchased this exact wire last week for my 2010 - 5 speed manual trans. The control switch was from another Gen 2 Tacoma but it came with 2 wires but not the ground. When I took off the air bag all it had was a ground wire leading from the plug at the top of the wheel to the air bag. So I had to purchase this same 3 cruise control switch wire connection (shown above) for $37 from a Toyota steralership online. Well, I just installed the cruise control stalk/switch with the new 3 wire connection on my 2010 today, but it doesn't work. "Cruise" lights up on my instrument panel, but it does not work to control speed after going 50+ mph. Am I missing something?

Clutch switch that plugs in/mounts up towards top of clutch pedal. The white connector is under top edge of carpet up above the clutch pedal.

    Hi Newfiebruh

Thanks for your post. So I need the clutch switch for it because I have a manual? I can't find the location you are referring to that this clutch switch connects into. I don't see a connector at the "top edge" of the carpet. Is there a video or diagram you can share that shows where the switch goes and where the wire gets plugged into?

Also, is this clutch switch all I need for my 2010 manual to make the cruise control work?

    Thank you!

If you look up under at the clutch pedal, there is a bolt with a jamb nut that stops the pedal from travelling too far upward. This must be removed, and the switch installed with the jamb nut, keeping the compressed length of the switch the same as the bolt was to keep the pedal freeplay adjustment the same as it was.

The wire lead should be taped to the outside of a large wiring harness up above somewhere

    Hey Mudinfun,

Thanks for the info along with the pics, which helps quite a bit. Is the bolt and jam nut difficult to get to and remove? I assume part number 88280-4206 is the one I need for my 2010? I searched online and Amazon has it, but shows that it's not compatible with my 2010. Also, where is the plug that connects to the clutch switch once it's installed?

    Thanks again!

Plug is way up in corner above left foot. Look at the switch plug and look for it up in corner of cab right at lower dash level.......mine was right at edge of top of carpet or the insulation stuff.

Mudinfun … I just read your message again and I realized now that you are saying that the wire lead should be taped to the outside of a large wiring harness up above. I read it to mean that I should tape the wiring harness up above somewhere :der: So never mind!

Hey newfiebruh, could you post a pic of the hookup. I have the same wires and am confused about the ground wire. Where did the brown wire with the crimped end go. Tia

I’d have to rip it apart again for a pic, but the ground is simply taken out of the 4way pin then you insert it into the same position into the new pin that’s wired for cruise and it’s just plug and play

I purchased the switch. But I couldn't locate the correct plug for the switch.

It's a good time to vacuum out the floor board and corner near the foot rest - lots of dirt gets accumulated there!

That's not it. Should be a 2 wire connector. Blue/black and light green wires. Should be somewhere up in there near where the clutch switch goes.

BTW, to put the foot rest back, unscrew those white plastic blocks, snap them into the foot rest, and then just push the footrest back into place.

I just took of the black tape off of this plug but it is not the correct plug. It's just 2 inches away from where the switch goes too .. so I'm stumped. It's too wide for the switch connection. I can't seem to find the plug. I looked everywhere around the switch location too. Does anyone have a pic of the plug and where it's located?
