Is this it? Looks like a blue/black wire.

Thanks Muddinfun … Can you take a wider shot for a better orientation view? Is this near the location for the clutch switch? I was under the dash for 20 minutes looking for the plug .. twice now. Will take another look again to see if I can see if I can see what's in the pic you provided.

    Thanks again!

Ok .. I found that wire plug earlier, but that's not it. It's black and I was told it's a white plug. It's also not wide enough to fit the plug on the switch, and it's not long enough to reach the plug on the switch above. The wires would need to be 4 inches longer that it is. See my pic below. the wire on this plug is medium blue and pink/purple?

While I was searching for the clutch plug, these two pieces appeared on my floor.
Any idea what these are and where these go?

We should have a new post … "Can you name this part and where it goes?" :)

I dunno. I just know from the schematic that it should be a 2 wire plug with blue/black and light green. Maybe start a new thread something like, "where is the CC clutch switch plug?"

It’s been a few moons since I installed cruise in my ‘06 with manual trans, but I do remember that finding the plug for the clutch switch was the most difficult part of the job.

I think the connector was taped to a larger harness a bit above and toward the firewall from where the switch gets installed.

Hope you find the connector. Having cruise has been great these past few days

Thanks guys .. I looked toward the firewall too and still can't find it. But I'll try looking again tomorrow. I'm afraid that moving those wires around too much that I'll loosen a connection and something won't work. If I can't find it, I just may need to go to the stealership and have them find it for me. But chances are they will spend at least and hour trying to locate it and charge me $150 or more for their time. Ugh!

OK, I might have found it. This was bugging the hell out of me so I poked around under the dash of my truck. I thought since I have an automatic, there might be more room to see. If you look up in there between the brake push rod and the kick panel, there is a huge bundle of wires. Probably 40 or more wires. If you jam your arm up in there(it hurts), and follow the bundle with your fingers, when you get about 1" toward the passenger side from where the steering column is(completely out of sight), it feels like a connecter with about 2 wires is taped to the harness. The connector is below( towards the groud) the big harness. Touching it was painful. I don't know how you're going to get it loose. I'm not completely sure this is it, but it seems like a possibility.

Thanks for looking for the plug Muddinfun, but I don't think that's the plug if it is located toward the bottom of the large (I assume vertical) harness. I was told by several members here that the wire is located at the top where the clutch switch is located or gets installed. I originally found another white plug in the area you are referring (toward the bottom of that large harness (the one with the 40 or so wires) .. but it was not the plug and didn't match the shape pf the plug I needed for the switch. Do you have a pic of the plug you are referring to and where it is located?

It's completely out of sight. I was only able to feel what felt like about a 1/2" or so connector with a small harness attached to it. If you go up above the steering column a ways and about 1 or 2 inches toward the passenger side from straight above the steering column. That large harness goes horizontally.

I dunno. Maybe that's not it. I have looked at a bunch of threads, and everybody says it's right there near where the switch goes.

@Muddinfun that sounds about right. Painfull to reach sounds about right, and so does it being difficult to get out if the tape with how limited the access is.

Funny how I can remember the pain over 8 years later.

@gutsy I wouldn’t bother with the dealer. They’ed likely tell you your truck wasn’t equipped with cruise and it can’t be done.

Thanks guys .. but I just searched again and I still can't locate the damn plug. I reached in everywhere above the steering column, 1' to 3" toward the passenger side and everywhere else including aorund the area where the switch goes and in small crevices under that dash … and cannot locate it. Very .. very frustrating. Thanks for your responses though!

Pictures of the location of the wire leading to the switch would be very helpful.

If you look at the first picture i posted you'll notice theres only 1 plug, so the new plug had the ground for the air bag ran into it and i just plugged it all in and it was done.

So you dont need to buy the wire that has the ground built into it, its just an extra expense. The ground is a part of the 4pin so if you release the pin you can wigle the wire out of the 4pin connector. With the ground removed from the oem connector you can now add the ground wire into the same location (top left) on the connector that came with the cruise control. Basically on the oem connector only the top left out of 4 potential slots is used and in the cruise connector 2/4 slots are used with the slot for the ground open. If that makes any sense lol
