Anyone would nuts to do this. The dual climate control is basically a gimmick. Have it in our Taco and RAV4 and had it in a Audi we recently sold. A useless feature! Put a thermostat in each seat and vary the temp settings by 10 degrees and see how much difference there is in each seating area. Your in the same small confined area of a vehicle. No matter what you set the two separate temperatures at, you aren’t going to see more that a couple degrees difference in the seating areas. Unless your planning on building a bubble for your passenger (bubble boy!), your better off spending your time and money on just about any other mod.

Spend your money on heated seats if you really want to feel a difference in the two areas.

I figured it was like that. Could be wrong, but it feels like this thread is shifting away from getting dual zone to just getting auto temp. I don't know how you could do that OEM style but given that the temperature and fan speeds are controlled by knobs, and those knobs regulate the voltage across their circuits (I assume, could be individual outputs at each position), one could, theoretically, use something like a Pi to programmatically handle voltages based on feedback from a temperature sensor.

Depending on how involved you make that, this system could completely intercept/interrupt the circuit so the knobs could still retain functionality, maybe even be used as inputs to the system (e.g. use the temperature knob to control the set temperature).

if we could just figure out a way to get the dual zone climate control unit to work on the single zone harness that would be prime. i know for me personally i dont care about the actual dual zone, whereas i do like the instrumentation that the unit provides. it looks way more at home on the modern tacoma. the whole ordeal behind this is the dual zone has one plug, the single zone has two. im not saavy in the electronical, so i was really just hoping someone that had the same motivation (i know theres a few here, maybe more) could figure out how to make the switch. i know its been a while, so i kinda counted this project as a wash even though i did buy the dual zone control unit already. it is kinda refreshing though to see added post as of recently, hopefully someone undertakes it lol.

If someone could get me wiring schematics or tell me where to get them I could try to figure this out. Although I’m only interested in making mine auto controlled.

Yep, bringing an oldie back to life hopefully. Could care less about dual climate control, but sure do miss the auto climate control my 4runner has and my OR does not. I assume it can't be done or too difficult to make the wiring change. I am sure an auto climate control panel and a adapter harness would make single zone auto control work, but wondering if someone has done it yet or if someone wants to take on the challenge. I bet if someone could make the adapter harness there would be a lot of people willing to buy them to make it a worth while venture. :)

I have it in my sport and use it a lot when the wife is in the passenger seat. She's hot and I'm cold so we adjust the temp to make both sides comfortable and happy. My Venza had it too so I was used to it and could not go without it.
