My ac is low on Freon. Does any one know where the low side fill port is? I can probably find it but right now I am on crutches. I will probably get neighbor to help me. If so I do not want to have to spend more time than needed.

Cars don't use freon (outlawed) they use R-123a available at any parts store.

The bigger of the 2 caps is where you add refigerent. The refill kits only come with that size coupler.

How long has the system been low? If over 2 years, better find a pro that can repair the leak and recharge system to proper capacity.

Just noticed. It was fine last fall. I just started using it more. I know it is not called Freon any longer. Kind of like calling tissues Kleenex. Recharge will just be a stopgap until I can find some time and someone to work on.

    Then you have a leak.

Most common locations are the condensor or the Schrader valve.

Pretty cheap fix either way. If you do decide to add a can, use some soapy water to find the leak.

Hopefully just a loose fitting somewhere. Not sure soapy water will work but I will try. I believe that it is a real slow leak. Maybe it it is like the trannies. Under filled at factory.

There's another thread on here about a guy's tacoma's AC hose blowing. It was rubbing against his battery tray and created a cut in the hose. It's not a bad idea to check that. If a hose is about to blow, you don't want to be adding more.

my wife took my truck out and notices the ac isn't blowing cold air and it was making this hissing noise behind the dashboard. I posted another thread and someone mentioned if its making the hissing noise, you dont have enough of a charge with barely enough to get the evaporator going... I am not sure if I should charge the system myself or take to a mechanic to do it.

Do I need an adapter to put R134a from an AC pro bottle in my 2017 Tacoma OR? I tried two bottles/cans & I cant get a connection. & I tried both ports just to make sure.

I'm not sure, but 3rd gens are using a new refrigerant. 134a won't work.

Be careful adding with no gauge on the high side. Can add to much and damage the compressor
