Adding LED bed lights

My 24 SR5 didn't come with the bed lights, has anyone added them to their truck? I have searched, but I only found them added to older generations. I have ordered a bed cover and it would be nice to be able to see under it at night.

 

Have you looked for the connectors? Between the fender and the bed, both sides. The bed lights are 2 types, one is interior the other exterior (fender top edge with bed).

 

OP, have you checked your Taco for the connectors?

 

Not yet. It's been raining here.

A question for those with the interior bed lights, what controls them? Do they come on when the doors are opened, like the cargo light in the back of the cab? Or is there a dedicated switch?

Mine also come on when you open the tailgate.

 

Tailgate is a "door"...

 

I bought these for a couple of dark closets in the house and have been impressed enough that I bought two more for the bed. Stick a couple magnets on each side, attach the lights and when the gate is open, they come on. When the battery gets low, I take them in the house, or hook up a small battery pack and recharge them.

 

Huh. I didn't even realize I had bed lights in my truck. I had the switch set to "off." In case anyone is curious where they are mounted, or what they look like here you go. I was about to order some of those stick ons but I thought I better double check.

 

I have looked, but I can't find any extra wiring between the fender and the bed. If it is there, I can't see it.
